Oh ya called them. They reverted me back to liquid phase diet. As if that makes me feel any better about this dam surgery. Just sick of stomach hunger' date=' headache, nausea, starving my body BC I can't have anything basically!

At least I had freedom before. Now I have nothing. Except bottle Water. S f popsicles, two teaspoons of yogurt!

Yay. 4 weeks and I feel like ****![/quote']

It's not easy. I do understand. I'm on my second stricture repair and it's frustrating. Zofran, omeprazole and Zantac in-between everything else are my best friends. But I'd still take it over being almost 500lbs.

Right now you're frustrated and I get that, I honestly do. But please know it DOES get better.

I'm sending positive vibes your way.

Yes, sometimes after surgery you get a build up of scar tissue and they need to scope you to "stretch" the passage way.

Symptoms of esophageal strictures include heartburn, bitter or acid taste in your mouth, choking, coughing, shortness of breath, frequent burping or hiccups, pain or trouble swallowing, throwing up, throwing up blood, or weight loss.[4]

Treatment

If it is caused by esophagitis, then it is treated by treating the infection (typically with antibiotics). In order to open the stricture, a surgeon can insert a bougie, a weighted tube used to dilate the constricted areas in the esophagus.[1] It can also be treated during an endoscopy with a special balloon that inflates in the esophagus (called "Dilation of the stricture"), or with other medications. For example, an H2 blocker medicine (e.g., ranitidine) or a proton-pump inhibitor (e.g., omeprazole) can treat underlying acid reflux disease.

And the winner is, Laura! :)

I've had antis and dilation (both 2x) and they discovered an ulcer this time around. Fun, fun, fun! :P

The scope itself isn't that bad though is it?

What are they going to to for the ulcer??

The scope is done under sedation, so it's a piece of cake...erm...it's no big deal :P

The ulcer they're not completely sure about yet. They sent a tissue sample off for testing to make sure it really isn't anything more than a simple ulcer. In the interim, they're treating the H. pylori with more antis.

I had my stricture repaired yesterday, except for waking up in the middle of it and freaking everyone out it was pretty easy. I have a sore throat but I think that's because I had woke up, gagged and asked if I should be awake.

I know it's hard, I've been there. Sending you great well wishes!!

What were your symptoms?

Do you go back on liquid diet now and start all over? I'm curious BC I have all this gurgling in my tummy. I haven't had so much coughing or gagging out of the blue last couple days... I did not throw up today o wait yes I did.... I tried cream of potatoe soup! Actually went down pleasant. Stayed down. Tried 2 hours later have a little more BC face it I haven't ate in about a week, Water and ensure and SF popsicles.... threw up little soup!

I don't have pain. Just uncomfortable acid reflux occasional gagging and headaches from hell. But if I could possibly have a stricture I want it fixed now! Id like to be able to enjoy life again w out gurggling or acid reflux! Even w just water!

And subway.... I misssss my chicken breast w provologne and lots of onions.... baked.....

P.s. I only ate once a day for last 5 years. All this girl can afford! I drank a lot of Water last 2 years. I never went out of my way for foooood!

What were your symptoms that made you go get checked?

I had EXTREMELY SEVERE nausea, vomiting, my food intake decreased dramatically, and even my ability to drink was compromised. My reflux has NEVER resolved, but it simply became worse, even to the point of waking me from a sound sleep in the middle of the night, forcing me to vomit because of the acid. (Prior to being sleeved I only threw up when I was pregnant.)

If you're dehydrated, your head will ache and your reflux symptoms will act up. Nix the Ensure- the sugar content is going to make your symptoms worse, I promise you!

Are you taking anything like Zantac or Prilosec? Some surgeons prescribe it after surgery, some don't. Maybe ask your surgeon. It's something people say help them.

Are you getting any Protein in? Maybe some chicken broth with unflavored Protein will help soothe your tummy also. Sometimes the combination of the sodium and warmth help calm. Warm tea with unflavored Protein powder may work as well.

I know right now things like Subway sound great when head hunger is kicking in, but try to put it out of your mind. Your focus needs to be on your protein and hydration.

Stay strong and know we're pulling for you! :)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
