How soon after surgery did you travel?

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery on Apr. 24. On May 23 I am flying to Florida to visit family. I live in Buffalo. What challenges are lurking out there, and what skills should I bone up on to meet and overcome them. I will be at the 'soft solid' stage of my program.

Thanks !

I flew from CA to CO for my sisters wedding exactly 2 weeks after surgery. I felt fine, no problems physically. I was staying with my sister and she was nice enough to have my Protein Shakes, cottage cheese, and yogurt on hand for me....which really helped. The only problem I had was I got a little dehydrated a couple of days because we were busy and I "forgot" I had to drink. You should be fine!!

Hi - I was sleeved 9/25, live in NJ, on 10/28 I flew to St. Marteen. My only problem was that I really wasn't on solid food yet so I had to take with me my Protein Shakes. It was hard because we were with a bunch of friends who loved to eat, but I adapted quickly! Good luck and safe travels!

Pack your Protein powder and plan out what foods/drinks you will buy when you get there to keep yourself on track. Also, I always took colace with me because I really suffered with Constipation.< /p>

Early post-op, I carefully tracked all I ate and drank. I used a little notebook. I recommend doing that while travelling, even if you don't at home. If you are still eating with a little spoon, bring it too.

I enjoyed eating out, even early on. Shrimp and crab fit in my soft food stage.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
