I was told to drink 6 oz per hour. I could easily and want to drink more. Is it dangerous to drink too much Water?

It depends, how long did u do your surgery. I wouldn't recommend drinking a lot of Water you may get a leak.

just drink small sips of water, and make sure you are eating, maybe you're just hungry

I think that because you just had surgery a few days ago, yes it can be dangerous your stomach and nerves are still numb. It's really important in this stage to measure everything and stick to guidelines because you really can "feel" much yet.

Ok thanks! I will stick to the guidelines! It's not been 72 hours yet.

Consider yourself lucky! At 72 hours out I couldn't even get 6 oz. in during 24 hours and was still hooked up to the IV. Now that some of the inflammation has gone down I can get in more. I'm 5 weeks out and just want to chug some water!!

You should slow down, but your fine If you have a leak you will notice believe me. you will feel strong pain and a high heart beat and probably pass out. I never heard that someone got a leak from drinking too much liquid.

I think my stomach is still numb. I'm not hungry at all but my body tells me I must have calories. I just decided to eat some sugar-full Jello (can't have aspartame) and after eating 3/5 of it I experienced productive burping. Oh joy.

gibson g_irl

as everyone else has said.....

at 3+ days po you need to be nice to your new tummy :)

if NUT says 6 oz per hour is good - go for it

as OP said - consider yourself lucky that you are able to drink so much so easily :)

your NUT will eventually give you "permission" to drink more

its great that you love Water so much

drink as much water as possible as soon as NUT gives you the go ahead

64 oz is what you are supposed to have - sounds like you will be able to drink much more!!!!

thats terrific!!!

knock your socks off!!

welcome to the start of your new healthier, happier, longer life!!!! :)

good luck!!! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
