hardest workout you have done post op

Recommended Posts

This is just a little thread for everyone to share their hardest workout post sleeve in order to inspire others and to share ideas.

For example, my hardest workout is cross fit WOD just completed today:

1. 50 deadlifts (200 lbs)

2. 2 mile run

3. 30 bench (150 lb)

4. 50 pull ups (really hard for me)

5. 2 mile run

6. 100 burpies(almost killed me. Lol)

I swear my PT was channeling Jillian Michaels. I am going to hurt tomorrow. No pain no gain!!!

I love this thread! Today I ran 2 miles in the morning and then 75 mins of hot yoga (bikram) in the evening. I feel pretty unstoppable after that. Training with my trainer in the morning and hoping I can still walk!

You are an animal, will you rest tomorrow? What kind of exercise did you do before surgery? Did you do all that in an hour?

I will be back running a 5k tomorrow HIIT style. Should I rest? I have been training like an athlete ( and eating like one) for a few months now.

Yes, WOD above was between 30 min and 1 hour.

Before surgery, not much exercise. I couldn't at 300+ lb for 2 years proceeding surgery. However, I did do some running about 7 years ago. Not very good at it back then because weight was still too high at 250 to get any real efficiency out of it. Always got injured ( bursitis) because of heavy weight and lack of good running technique.

Today, I am happy to report no injuries yet at current weight.

Mondays, thirty minutes working the arms, then one hour of spinning class. It kicks my butt so hard, I'm still tired on Tuesday!

Haha, it's fun going back through my journal, I can always tell the "OMFG" days by how much sweat is on the page, and how bad my handwriting gets as the workout goes on.

This was leg day a few days ago. I had to sit for about 20 minutes before I could walk safely out of the gym. I'll include my commentary, as best as I can, some of its pretty messy.

Leg Press-still not full squatting due to back tightness and knee soreness. Started animal flex 2x for load phase yesterday. (Something else, but can't read it due to sweat blurring it out)

225 x 20

315 x 10

405 x 8

495 x 6

585 x 5

675 x 4

765 x 4 -work sets to stop at 6pps (plates per side), felt like baby weight, worked to 7pps and moved easily.

765 x 4

675 x 4

585 x 5

495 x 6

405 x 8

315 x 20 rested at 17 reps.

Cable Rows

150 x 10 too easy

180 x 10 x 3

Machine Rows

315 x 6 x 3

275 x 6

DB Rows

85's x 4 x 3

100's x 6 x 2

115's x 4 x 2

Triceps Pulldowns

140 x 12 x 3

180 x 8 x 2

200 x 4 x 2 Weight stack out of weight, bastards

Leg Extensions

155 x 6

195 x 6 x 2

225 x 6 + 4 HRT style (Hellraiser training, incorporating slow, delayed lowering of the weight for muscle growth)

Leg Curls

155 x 6 x 2

180 x 4

Reverse Cable Curls

40 x 10 x 3, 8, 6

Hip Abductor-always feel like a pansy on this, until I can't walk the next day.

160 x 20 x 3

So, there ya go, a glimpse in to my leg and back day. I do triceps every day, and usually add biceps in as well every day, tri's to failure, biceps to burn.

OMG, you are killing me! :D I don't even feel worthy of posting to this thread...I'm a light weight....not really, still really heavy and can't exercise like that! Plus, I'm an old lady ;) But I am so impressed with you! Anyway, I do 30 minutes ski machine, 20 min stair climber, 10 min arms (bowflex) and I'm up to 40 crunches. I was impressed with that until I read what the rest of you are doing. Great job everyone!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
