Wow Kulita, drinking the day after... I'm amazed. Where did you have your op? I've still another 24 hours to wait till I get anything to drink. Feeling pretty good and v happy with my care so far. Expect to go home tomorrow, on Protein Shakes. Still not a bit hungry though - on a drop so not thirsty either. It's so interesting to hear how differently this surgery is managed in different locations. I'm in awe of those who travel to Mexico and get discharged to a hotel after 1 or 2 nights.

I was discharged the very next day! As well as drinking Clear liquids, Yet I can only have Clear Liquids for the next 7 days and then the not clear yet soupy liquids for a week or two after, I have already lost 7Lbs! Honestly I wish they would have kept me, they said I was one of the first to get moving around.. I am just dreading this month of stabilizing and only getting liquids, I am so ready for a Protein shake!! Or an egg!!

I'm pretty miserable at this moment.

Wow, aren't our experiences all different. I'm still have daily heparin (anti-clotting) injections, and potassium, painkillers and reflux meds in my drip. Was on half hourly observations till 24 hours ago, still on 4 hourly. I feel completely Molly-coddled.

I'm feeling pretty well in myself but then I'm not really exerting myself much - no doubt it will be different when I go home.

Cindy, be gentle on yourself. You seem to have had a hectic lead in to your surgery and then it's been all go since too. I was v anxious about it all beforehand but once it's done it's just a question of learning to live with the changes, no more decisions. So I'm calm now. (Well, right at this minute).

Don't expect too much of yourself for a week or two - rest, rest and more rest. I'm heartened by the number of people on here who say they went through a rough patch but things are good now. That's the future for you and me too.... It's waiting for us!

I am still in the hospital. I went through a Navy Surgeon in San Diego. I have to drink 1 oz of liquid every 15 minutes... and THAT is very hard to do. The reason is so that I wont get dehydrated when I go home. After the first 24 hours after surgery they gave me the go ahead to drink any liquid so long as I get in at least 30 gm of Protein for the next 2 weeks. The goal is to get in 70 gm.

What I find funny is that I had to do a 2 week liquid diet and then a 2 day clear diet prior to the surgery. No clear liquids first.

What size bougie does everyone have?

Mine is 36FR

I'm glad everyone is doing fine. My boogie or however you spell it lol was a 34. I do not feel nausea or in pain, but I have to be on clear liquids until next week on Tuesday and I just feel like if I could have some cream Soup or ANYTHING with substance I would actually feel pretty normal! My doctor hasn't even said anything about protein! I feel so anxious about this.

I've lost 10 lbs though I just feel dizzy and tired.

You probably feel dizzy because You dont have any Protein in you. There is a clear liquid Protein broth from unjury called chicken Soup and it REALLY good. If you can try that so you can get filled.

Remember each Dr. is different on their diet protocol. There is probably a very good reason why you are on clears. Stay strong.

BTW you can eat this one warm! and it taste EXACTLY like how you would want homemade chicken Soup to taste.

When you can try these flavors too.

If you like chocolate try Syntrax's nectar in chocolate Truffle. With Water it tastes like a YooHoo, with milk it tastes like a Wendy's milkshake

If you like fruit juices try Unjury's strawberry Sorbet. Mix it with Water, lemonade, or milk and yogurt (strawberry cheesecake). I have made this one so many ways even into ice pops!

Kulita, my dr says no fizzy/carbonated drinks ever again... So caution with the lemonade, I suggest.

Cindy and Kulita (and other recent sleevers), how r things now? Ii was sleeved 'Monday and it's now Sunday. I'm ok though still not getting in a litre of Fluid a day. Bit of pain (short and sharp - not needing painkillers) and periods of tiredness. Generally going slow. Walking for about 15 -20 mins a time. No way feel ready for work.

I'm allowed thin/runny liquids only (which includes Soups and Protein shakes) for another week. Putting a teaspoon of Benefiber in "everything", and that is easy enough to do - virtually nil taste and doesn't thicken the liquid (so I've no idea how it works as fibre). If it works I'm going to sneak it in the kids food and drinks wherever I can!

Finding it very hard to imagine ever eating a normal meal again - of any size! But I'm reassured by others on this forum that it will happen.

Susan.... I forgot you are in another country. In the U.S. Lemonade usually contains no carbonation; it is lemon juice Water and a sweetener.

I am doing well. I was given a log by my Dr. so I could track down everything that enters my mouth. I will be honest, prior to surgery I was afraid that I would not get in enough Water. When I looked at my records it shows that my Fluid intake it amazing! Yesterday I drank around 90 oz (about 2.5 liters). Are you both writing down what you are putting into your mouth?

I have been able to start on creamed, strained Soups. Although I am glad to start it I can only get in about 4 oz in 30 min and then I am full for like an hour. That seems to strange to me. It was difficult to eat Soup while my family was enjoying some cod, broccoli, and potatoes au gratin.

I too was finding it difficult to think of eating a normal meal again. I kept looking at this as " what have I done to myself?" or "I am regretting this surgery." but I soon realize that I am retraining my body on how to eat and enjoy food differently instead of inhaling my meals directly to my gut. I think of the stages of food introduction as I would for feeding a baby.

No log for me though I add up Protein and Fluid numbers in my head. Sounds like a great idea.

My Dr. also says that shakes, broth, Jello, ice pops, Water, and juice all count toward Fluid intake. Make sure you count those too!

Anyone having problems with gas?

Sooo relate to this. Thanks for putting it out there.

How has everyone been lately?

I have a discomfort-like pain on my left side where my spleen is. That area aches at night time when I am lying down. I think that it still may be a bit tender there.

I've been good! Finally feeling more normal since I can eat soft foods, my head still has that fog but my diabetes seems to be at bay which is awesome! I had a miscarriage after the surgery I didn't know I was pregnant it must have been implanting around the day of surgery so I don't know how all that is effecting me I've only lost 12 lbs and have been at a stand still since last Wednesday how much weight has everyone lost?

The first week was hell lol, but I'm starting to be really happy with my new stomach!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
