Cheeseburger In Paradise (minus the cheese)

Recommended Posts

SURGEY date: 3-1-13

Down 48 lbs (18 was pre-op)

Ate 1/2 burger with bun for lunch. 45 minutes later ate the other 1/2. Why? Because I am stupid and weak. Ate it for sport. Please Lord, give me the strength not to try to outsmart my sleeve.

Anyone else do this sort of stuff?

Thanks

Don't be so hard on yourself! Yeah I did try to eat some fries, a chicken nugget, and a catfish tender and it all made me very uncomfortable and I haven't tried anything like that since. I was sleeved 3-18-13 and I just try to keep reminding myself that the first 6 months are critical because this is when we will be able to drop the weight with ease. They say after 6 months losing weight will be sort of the way we experienced it pre sleeve - more difficult, so use your time wisely food will always be there.

Oh yes - I've tried lots of things that probably should have been avoided. But this is the thing - if you eat something you really want sometimes and you stay within whatever calorie limit you've set for yourself, have you really been that bad? I don't think so. If the guilt of eating it bothers you, just try not to let it happen too often. No harm done. I think you are doing great.

Hey, don't get so down on yourself...if we weren't all "weak" to some extent we would have lost weight the old-fashioned way...here's the deal, feel lucky you CAN eat a burger; geez, if I took one bite of a burger, I would have been throwing up in a heartbeat...I am 7 wks post-op, I took 2 bites of a scrambled egg this morning and it made me sick to my stomach...3 hrs later my tummy is still gurgling and screaming at me. Your lucky that you feel so good that you can tolerate a burger...Your "burger blunder" is over and done with, move on..!!! :)

Hey! Hey! Hey! Don't talk about yourself like that!! You ate a cheeseburger with bun. Okay, that's a fact. It's over. Don't dwell on it. Hopefully you enjoyed it. I say that, because we are human & you can consider that a "treat", just plan treats for occasions & do the best with everything else. You will be just fine. You're not weak. It's something that you wanted & you ate it. Nothing more, nothing less. ***Disclaimer-This is MY OPINION, lol

I'd like to know what you've tried. I'm just curious. You can send me personal message if you'd like. I tried Doritos Locos Taco Supreme & ate it all. No probs at all & it had some Protein. I enjoyed it.

Thank you everyone. I track everything on MFP so I try to keep it about 800 cal. 50% Protein. 25% carb 25% fat. I can tolerate everything but real sugar. That makes me feel nauseated.

I can eat 1 taco btw. My problem w that burger was that I ate 45 minutes after I already ate. That was pure greediness. I'll shake it off but that was the old me trying to bust out.

I really just needed to document and confess. Lol! Hello my name is Lauren and I am overcoming my food addiction one day at a time :)

Thanks ladies and germs!

Curious? Do those of you who eat this stuff especially early out go to support groups? The one I go to is full of people who are full of regret that they didn't take this more seriously. Didn't try to get as much weight as possible off while they had the chance. The pain in their eyes and on their faces is a great motivator for me. Remember, WLS is only a TEMPORARY tool. It only works for a short time before your body figures out the trick you played on it and adjusts itself. Of all the long term people I know, and there are a lot, only a couple of them still have the consequences surgery created working in their favor. Most are right back into the same old struggle and the scale is rising. Please, don't sabotage yourselves. If you absolutely have to have unfriendly food, there are a lot of things you can to do make them a better choice. We have In & Out burger in CA. I order a hamburger dry. I take 1/2 a wheat sandwich round, my own low fat cheese and add ketchup and mustard instead of their secret sauce. I've cut the fat and calories in half and made a guilt free, healthy choice hamburger that tastes just as good as a regular double double. Try it! I don't feel deprived at all! As for the fries, I gave those up in 2007 so I don't miss them anymore. = )

Can I steal Sleevie Nicks? I'm so jealous I didn't think of it. Of course, with my manly appetite and fondness for Journey I was also considering Sleeve Perry. ;-)

I wouldn't beat yourself up. Another VST member once posted. It's not a cheat, it's a choice. We're adults. We're human. :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
