Imagine eating so little? I'm still pre op but I'm laying here looking through the sleeved diets and seeing what people are eating and how much of and I'm like TWO slices of turkey?!?! I can eat 5 slices of pizza when I'm hungry lol I usually only eat 1 big meal a day but man can I eat..I can eat as much as my bf and he is 6'3" 330 pounds big guy...it's embarrassing that I can eat that much. So it's pretty hard to see my self eating so little. I see lots of throwing up in the future if I'm approved lol

Your appetite changes so do your tastes. You can eat what you want but you eat too much or something too fattening or too much sugar your gonna pay for it. It was really hard for me to wrap my mind around the idea of only being able to take a few bits of something and I was full. Especially when everbody around me is stuffing their faces and I take two bites and I feel like the food is stuck in my throat. It takes time but you just make it your new life style. Good luck to you

You don't have to worry about wrapping your mind around eating so little. Your new tiny tummy will do that for you. You will need your mind to help you make healthy eating choices. Good luck with getting approval!

When they do the surgery your hunger hormone isn't released in the same amounts. Your body will give you some warning signs that you've had enough. It's a little different for everyone. I used to be able eat a ton of food, and now I just don't desire it. I like eating when it is time for a meal, but I'm not like "that was it??". I'm satisfied & move on.

You get used to eating less and it becomes your new normal. I used to be able to eat a TON of food bf I was sleeved. Now, I can just eat a little at a time and I am used to it and I actually enjoy eating a little at a time. It's been almost 2 years for me and I haven't thrown up once since I was sleeved.

Yea, it seemed like a fantasy to me as well - pre-op. But after surgery, I no longer felt the constant nagging need to eat every few hours. And no where near the volume. I was a 6 slice pizza eater. Give me a large pizza and it'd take 6 slices to fill me up.

Hamburgers, shoot, double meat w/cheese, large fries and drink would barely top me off. And I'd be ready for another round in about 2 hours.

Now, 4 - 5oz of whatever and that's it. More than that and I'll feel like it's poking back up in my throat. AND I FEEL SATISFIED! And happy. No more food cravings for a specific flavor or hiding my food at work so people can't see how much I'm eating.

I think there are hard moments mentally with

"Wanting" more sometimes.

I have not eaten until sick or throwing up.

But if I'm being honest? There have been moments that I have wished I could take a "break" and eat (binge) on something good.

There was a certain "pleasure" eating vast amounts of food for some of us yeah?

I am a addictive personality so eating for me was not just hunger as some people here say their eating was.

Hehehe... After reading the above responses I sound screwed!!!

:P

At first there were times I felt like that bc I was so used to using food to deal with my emotions. Once I figured out how to get past that, I was good with eating little amounts of food. There are still times my emotions get the best of me and I eat a lot of popcorn. Usually I can stop myself bf this happens but once in a while it still happens.

You don't sound screwed (at least not about this, lol). I worry about having this feeling post-op. I'm so curious about how it's actually gonna be, how I'm really gonna feel. I can understand the wanting more thing, and I haven't even been sleeved yet!

Like I think about how I've been fighting off this craving to get a gyro lately. With fried mushrooms on the side. Now that I'm on the liquid diet, that meal has the equivalent of a weeks worth of fat. Or more! And I'm fending off the desire to have that for dinner. It's hard for me to imagine not craving that again, or not being able to indulge myself in food that way. I would take considerable pleasure to have that meal right now. I GET IT - Going on a binge is AWESOME! lol (Ok, so we're both totally screwed up!)

That said, I do also see the flip side of how disgusting it is to eat that way. I'm really hoping that surgery will do what it does for so many and take away all my hunger and cravings. But Laura, I'm sure everyone on here can relate to this feeling, if they are being honest with themselves.

I guess that's why I like to tell it like it is (with me)

It's not just as easy as having 2/3rds of your stomach taken out..

I fight the good fight everyday and I'm doing pretty ok at it, but I did not have a miracle preformed on me, I just had them take away my ability to stuff to much food in at once!

I am a work in progress... :)

It was most definitely an alien like concept to me that I would be eating so little. I thought I would be starving and grumpy allll the time. But, alas, this was not the case at all! I love my sleeve, it, along with proper nutrition and exercise are the most amazing tools imaginable. I feel that immediately post-op the head hunger was the biggest challenge for me. But after a few emotional breakdowns, mind over matter picked up :-D yayyyy! Best wishes to you

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
