I had replied to this post early in the thread.

I was scheduled for May 7. I went in for the surgery' date=' but the surgeon cancelled the proceedure when he saw that my stomach was too red and inflamed. (I would rather have a cancelled proceedure than complications.)

So... I'm adjusting... This is definitely not what I was expecting.

I will have a re-check in 8 weeks.

Right now I'm not sure whether or not I will continue efforts to have the surgery. It took everything for me to show up for the surgery and to have it not happen was rough.

For now, at least, I will continue my weight loss journey without surgery.

Best wishes to all of you May sleevers!

That had to be difficult! My heart goes out to you...

I agree with the others....its worth it to keep going forward...you've come this far...

Good luck...

Post again when you see the MD and let us know how its going...

had my surgery this morning and went well. woke up in recovery groggy and pain in my shoulder and upper back ( gas). After that I haven't had that pain. now I'm just really sore in my stomach area and incision sites. but very manageable with the morphine. it ma kes me so groggy though. I can have ice chips today and liquids.tomorrow. so far so good;)

Just had surgery yesterday. Ouch! I went through a few hours of wondering why did I do this to myself. Today is much better then yesterday. I have a huge bruise in the manipulation incision where my stomach was removed. 5 total incisions. I didn't have a problem with the gas fortunately, but because I have had severe nausea and vomiting I am still in the hospi. Probably won't be released until tomorrow evening or Friday morning. Energy levels come and go. Not really hungry. On a clear liquid diet which consists of chicken broth, jello, juice and ice cubes. I made some tea. They introduced a Glucerna shake today. I haven't eaten but more than 2 ounces total for each meal, and I've only had 3 meals. Eating ice cubes between meals helps a lot. Hospital is not bad. I am able to get a lot of rest. My family spent all day yesterday here with me. I think I will be dropping my campus classes though. Sitting is most painful, standing is least painful. I don't think I over packed or under packed. I would suggest bringing some Biotin dry mouth gum, and rinse as well as chap stick. It helps a lot. The nurses said they are going to advise future patients to bring the Biotin dry mouth gum/rinse, as all the anesthesia and narcotic makes the dry mouth worse, so it leave the patient constantly looking for something wet.. Keep ice on your manipulation incision wound. I can't wait to go home to my comfy bed and home. I see a few people mention they have room-mates, I am sorry for that. At my hospi, we have private suites. Which is very nice. I am a blood clotter so I have to take lovanox, but also I have to keep these things on my calves and ankles that puff up and help circulation. They feel like a massage on the ankles and calves. I didn't sleep well last night, so I have been extremely tired today. Earlier finally I just put my chill step music on, closed the blinds, hit my Ativan and Dilaudid and went to sleep for a few hours. Extremely peaceful and quiet!

On my way to the airport. I can't believe it's already here. Super excited and nervous at the same time!!! I'll keep everyone posted. Prayers are appreciated.

My surgery date is May 28! I'm getting so nervous for it. Had to have my doc prescribe me Xanax because of the anxiety. 4 more days till I can start my new life!

Same date but not feeling the nerves yet. I think it's because I've had a pretty heavy work load this week trying to get things wrapped up but I'm guessing this weekend I might be a ball of emotions my mom died about 5 years to the date all due to obesity related reasons. I'm ready for this new life chapter!

Any tips I can help provide. Drink water and produce urine. Make sure you get the urine in the catcher that is in the toilet. I just got home late last night from my Tuesday sleeve. Get up and walk around as much as possible. Shower as soon as possible. Bring some chapstick and biotin dry mouth gum, music and something comforting from home. I didn't need slippers, nor did I pack them. I used the booties they gave me. Know your allergies and be firm with the nursing staff. For example, I am allergic to cicillians, and I can only take sulfates (antibiotics) the anastheiaologist gave me a cicillian anyways. I was in an alergic reaction as I was exiting the operation area. I pulled out of it. Later on that night my nurse tried to give me some again, I told her no i'm allergic, she said "well you already had some" and I said "yes and I had an allergic reaction".. The lady put it through my IV anyways, it didn't take 5 minutes for allergic reaction to kick in. These nurses assume that hives and itching are the only symptom of an allergic reaction. Also, use your pain meds. I didn't, but it would have helped significantly. When I did use them, it was better. Keep ice on your manipulation site, that will be the most painful location of the 5 incisions. Even once you are home, keep ice on it. Also, expect nausea and vomitting the first day or two. Doctor said people who get nausea and vomitting lose the most weight. I had my surgery Tuesday at 8am. I am already down 11 lbs and that is not including inches. It is already very obvious that i've had weight loss.

My surgery was May 7th and including my pre-op diet I have lost 31 pounds. But the biggest loss came yesterday - my doc removed all insulin - which I was at 4 shots a day. I was put on an oral med for diabetes - but I don't mind that at all. I've also come off high blood pressure and cholesterol meds!!! I think I've hit a stall but I'm ok with that- it's normal and there is no way I won't keep losing with the small amounts I'm eating. Keep going May Sleevers - we got this :-)

Wow that is great congratulations on those accomplishments! I am exactly one week away from being sleeved I am kinda nervous but also excited at the same time. I am more nervous about the recovery -

I'm lying in the hospital bed waiting to go back. They gave me something for nerves and its helped a lot. I'll keep everyone posted.

I know what you mean about the allergies....I have many sensitivities and allergies to a variety of foods and medicines. My "allergic reaction" can range from turning bright red to feeling like I have a severe flu (achy, congested, etc) to hives and itching. Its always different.

Sorry to hear about what you went through during and after your surgery...

I'm home from the hospital and doing okay. don't like the pain at all. I'm hoping that gets better each day. eating feels really weird. I'm trying to sip all day, but I'm really feeling hungry, not sure if it's real hunger or just my strange stomach.
