Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Recommended Posts

Shelbi,

Could I join you on your 12 weeks of no red meat, eating oatmeal and exercising? I'll need my tests redone at that time too. I am off all of my meds. My doctor didn't want me to go too long without re-testing.

:thumbup:ABSOLUTELY!!!!! I need the support and would love to see us both have fabuous lab results!

Dee: I KNOW i have the BEST parents. My friends have always been envious of the relationship I have with my folks. We enjoy each others' company and laugh hard and often when we are together. My mom's sis is 2 yrs. older than she and is just as ornery and funny. When her 4 kids (my first cousins) get together with the rest of us, it is one LOUD raucous family!!

Hope y'all have a good Monday! I have my art classes....love 'em!

Hey everone:

I have good news...I am nine pounds away from changing from the 300's to the 200's!!! Let me tell you I am NEVER going to see that number again..ever.

The plastic surgeon said I should be consuming closer to 150 grams of Protein. I bumped it up, and starting that night have been dancing the CAN-CAN.

I will not have access to a scale that weigh's me...I don't think. I'm leaving for Texas in a little over twenty four hours. WOO HOO. I'll post pictures.

My daughter is doing great. She said the baby has dropped low and she is getting mini contractions. Due date was the 23rd but I think she will go sooner.

PR

:Banane57:AND It's especially time for me to play the piano and Mal to do her little dance! Go Mal!

:thumbup::rolleyes::thumbup::woot::eek::eek::eek:

Lap you have no idea how thrilled I am for you! Oh my Goodness! This is such great news! I feel like it's happening to me! You and I started at higher BMI's -- so I have always looked to you for my inspiration!

Honey! Grandma to be! You enjoy that time with your daughter and that new baby! Write us when you can! I'll be praying for an easy labor, a pink screaming baby girl and a Grandma who gets lots of sweet baby kisses!

Heck, the Party Aint Over Yet! It's only just begun!!!

Love and Hugs,

dee~

Lap - fantastic!!! and congrats again on impending grandbaby. Just got new pics of mine this morning, they are the best!

wow, I feel so much better this morning. No headache, no nausea, a tiny bit sore and that's it. I'm going in to work this morning for an hour or so. I even weighed this morning (couldn't resist) and have lost the 1.5 lbs gained during surgery plus 2 more. Woohoo! That's what I was hoping to see!!!

Hey newbies - even though the first few days ended up being crappy for me, this whole adventure will be well worth it. Everyone is going to do great, including me!!

The oatmeal/no red challenge sounds like a great idea to get those numbers in line. Wow, Shelbi, you are so close! And miss dee, I'm sure it will be really helpful for both your numbers and your weight loss. I think Dr. Oz calls steel cut oats a "miracle food", yes?

This was GREAT to read first thing this morning. Thanks Dee.

YES YES YES we did start out with higher BMI's which makes this victory even sweeter. There is no question in my mind that within two weeks I will crest that hill and start down the 200's. You are right there with me Dee.

I'm looking forward to sliding down that 200 hill and this time next year getting to the 100's.

It's all happening!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
