Couple of random questions..

I'm still about 3 months pre-op, but I've been researching for over a year. I've pretty much wrapped my head around the diet (pre and post op), the technicalities of the surgery, and how huge of a change this will be. After reading around here I have a few questions.. (I did search some of my questions but didn't get anything really)

1. Is it comparable to a csection (pain wise)?I've had 2.

2. Does everyone have to swallow that stuff for the leak test? I heard it was beyond disgusting

3. Do nausea meds really work? I have a serious phobia of vomit (so bad, that I've had to call my mom to come over and clean my son's vomit because my husband was working). This is causing me SO much anxiety. I have a very high tolerance for incision pain, but NOT nausea. It will actually throw me into a panic attack if I think I might throw up.

Please give me your experiences or advice!! Thanks :)

Edit: and If anyone has similar stats as me I'd like to hear your experience too!! I'm 5'3" 280lbs.

FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT HAD LEAK TEST DONE ON DAY OF SURGERY WAS THIS DONE AFTER YOU WOKE UP? aND HOW MANY WEEKS AFTER SURGERY ARE YOU ABLE TO WORK OUT AT THE GYM?

I've had 2 csections and this was much easier!! The pain eased much faster than the other surgeries.

My doc does the leak test in the OR as well so I never had the barium. No drain either.

I got nauseous once in the hospital after drinking the pain med too fast but never vomited. Still haven't. So don't worry. Just take things slow.

Obviously I don't know since I'm pre op as well, but when people write in caps, I read it in a screaming voice haha

My leak test was while I was still under.

I never had c section but my last baby was natural at 11 lbs 11oz and that was very painful. I had this surgery Wednesday and the surgery pain is minimal and get good meds for it. I have not had nausea but do have gas when trying to drink my ounce of liquid in half hour. It sometimes refers to the left shoulder and is ver painful. I have a heating pad on it now and that helps a lot. Now at home I can take loratab or Motrin for pain but anything I swallow can cause the referred pain again a so aim try not to. Hoping sleeve starts to tolerate without gas soon!

Sorry Jessica, must have accidently hit Caps Lock.

No C section for me here, but the pain I had was extremely minimal. I've only taken my pain meds twice since surgery Feb 26th. The leak test was a breeze, did it taste bad? Hell yeah, but it wasn't horrible. I just wanted to get it done so I could start drinking water, I was crazy thirsty by that point and would have drank just about anything. Another leak test was done while I was under with saline and air. They gave me a patch behind my ear to help keep me from throwing up, and also some meds that helped anytime I got to that feeling.

As far as the gym goes, I can go now at 3 weeks post op but only to walk and do pool stuff. No lifting for me until weeks 5 or 6 depending on how I feel.

My c-section was FAR worse than vsg. Vsg was such an easy recovery for me. I took the lortab for a few days, then didnt need it. Nausea meds definitely worked. And I didn't have any leak tests.
