  10. So I decided that I would vent right now. Since I'll get the support of those who actually know how it is to be doing all of this! My orignal surgery was supposed to be March 26th. My surgeons office calls me the DAY before my surgery saying,"We don't have good news. Um. You never got a stress test!" WHAT?! NO ONE told me that I needed one even my orginal cardiologist! He never cleared me! So I ask my coordinator if I can find a new cardiologist (my cardiologist was out of office until April 3rd) to perform a stress test if can go through with it. She said yes. So here I am stressing out, getting so upset, crying, you name it and I only found 1 doctor who was willing to do it, the NEXT day. So my surgeon pushed my surgery to March 27th. Okay, cool, whatever I'm still getting it... NOT. I walk in and I have to office manager telling me my insur. company didn't approve a consult AND the stress test in one visit, they needed to be seperate. Why? I don't know. She said if the DR clears you without it, you can walk out of here with your clearance and get your surgery. So I was praying to God this man would clear me. He didn't. And when he explained why he wouldn't I understood. He was so sweet and understanding... I couldn't get mad or upset at him. (Btw, LOVE my new cardiologist!) (So a little backstory: my surgeon had to push my surgery to fast because my insurance company was going into litigation with the hospital shes associated with. Bummer! ) I call my coordinator and tell her I didn't get cleared but made appointments for a stress test, echocardiogram and a follow-up visit (I'm perfectly heathly, as I suspected!). Now it was to sit and wait for this litigation to be over. I was so upset. I was on the phone with new surgeons telling them my story to try to get this surgery, I was exhausted, confused and angry at this. I couldn't believe what I was being put through! The next day, I get a call from my actual surgeon telling me,"If I can get your insurance company to approve your stay at the hospital considering its so close to the date, I will get you in 1st thing. If not, I'm going to another hospital to finish my certification and I'll do it there in May." My insurance approved it! But after that, I went back and forth with the surgery, if I can do it myself or not... But I decided I need to do this for myself! And not to mention thank GOD I didn't have my surgery because that saturday, I ended up having the WORST stomach virus ever! That, was an act of God! All I'm saying is the pre-op diet is a B*TCH and I can't wait to be done with it But thank you for listening to me! I know, I have to gift of gab

  13. Ugh i know the feeling they are gross but the carnation instant Breakfast tastes like chocolate milk. For me the dairy was way to much for me so i see where ur coming from i hope it works out for you
  14. You can mix crystal light or diet snapple with unflavored Protein Powder and make them into ice pops
  15. Well, you'll have tons of it on here! Im on day 7 of 7 pre op diet and trust me i know what your feeling with the shakes! Premier Protein is good (choc & strawb) but i found tricks my NUT approved: - sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast- add 2 tblsp of instant coffee put over ice & blend (soo delicious!) Or i would add unsweetend cocoa powder to my shakes Good luck to you!
  16. Like others said, this is normal. Completely normal! I would suggest what i tried to get in the "post-op mindset". No matter what i ate i took small bites and chewed longer. I stopped drinking with meals (and let me tell you, i never imagined not drinking with meals ever!) And it sounds weird but i didnt like what i was eating and i would eat less of it. Its like your brain is preparing you and you'll start to "listen" to your stomach. It'll tell you whats agreeing with you and whats not. Its amazing! And another thing, i stopped soda and sugary drinks by choice so no one was telling me that i had to because im the type that if you tell me i cant have it, i want it now. Just drink tons of Water and you'll feel so much better! Good luck to you!
  17. Same here. My nut wants me to have regular Jello to put the sugar back in my body. Its so weird how everyones pre op diet varies

  21. Yes you can. My nut allows it. Its been my savior when the dairy got too much for me. My surgery is on tuesday so you'll be fine. Jell-O makes a strawberry-kiwi flavor that doesnt even taste sugar free!
  22. Out of curiosity, was anyone able to take bigger bites after a while or do you have to stick with "toddler-sized" bites forever? My surgery is March 26th & i have been practicing the small pieces, longer chewing and i cant seem to do it. My tounge just pushes the food down my throat naturally and im afraid it may complicate things. Im trying to avoid throwing up at any circumstance and just wondering if this is a tool to get used to the size of your new tummy. Any experience with this? Or advice, tips would be very helpful. Thank you!
  23. Wow that is fast. I took off work for 2 weeks. Im not sure if i should have for that long. I never had any type of surgery so i dont really know what to expect. But it makes me feel better to know that you felt good after that long!
