I have heard a lot of people have the same issue. I have yet to be sleeved, but my sister is a hair stylist and she told me there is the potential for Hair loss any time someone drastically changes their diet. Once your body accepts this new diet, the hair should grow right back. I certainly hope I helped!

I was sleeved on Oct 30th...and my hair has started to fall out. My stylist commented "boy, you're really shedding" last night. I didn't share my surgery with her. I'm hoping it slows down. I don't mind losing a few strands a day, but a handful a day is starting to get me a little concerned.

I was sleeved Oct 11 and am sitting at the hairdresser now discussing the loss. I have thick hair so it's not noticeable to anyone but me, but there's a ton if hair in my brush, comb and all over everything! I started taking Biotin (actually hair, skin snd nail vitamins) 2 weeks ago. I should have started Pre-op and will mention this to my dr. in Aoril at my 6 month post-op visit. My hairdresser has a Shampoo and conditioner for me to try that she said will help. I wonder how long this lasts.

I was sleeved on Oct 30th and in the past week my hair is coming out ALOT! I have Lupus and when the dr started me on medication that is also used as Chemo for some cancer, I lost a lot of hair. My hair was STRAIGHT! Could not hold a perm! When my hair grew back it grew back CURLY! So my hair looks thicker than it is and I am hoping it stays curly!

No matter what you take it's still going to fall out. I had really long hair and although it was really thick to begin with I was noticing it falling out badly. My hair dresser suggested that I cut it in a bob, and put highlights and low lights to mimic more depth. It really did work, and no one was able to notice the loss. I actually look so much better with the short hair that I decided to keep it even after the Hair loss stopped. Good luck!

As a hairstylist, I will say it definitely does look better to cut it off until the lost hair grows back in. Otherwise, having length does not make up for what you are missing in bulk. Long, stringy hair looks terrible. Want thicker hair? Cut it shorter than your usual 'do and it creates volume. Highlights and lowlights will add more dimension, depth, and the illusion of more hair.

Think about it...a comb-over is just that: a comb-over. Everyone knows the person is bald and is trying to cover up the bald with long pieces of hair.

I had six months of crazy shedding and I have thin hair, and not much of it to begin with. I now have a cute pixie haircut that I receive lots of compliments on. It's also growing back again and thickening up. Late summer/early fall (I was a early January surgery) was the worst.

It looked better and better the shorter I cut it until finally the re-growth isn't much shorter than the hair that didn't fall out!

My surgeon was pretty adamant in his literature that there's no way to prevent this if you are personally prone to it. He told us not to waste our money on fancy supplements or shampoos. I tried some nioxin- didn't do anything but the scalp sunscreen was great. I tried some supplements and didn't see any difference after keeping up with them for almost 3 months.

Just my experience. It was kind-of tough while it was at it's worst, but looking back not such a big deal and I should have gone for the full pixie earlier.

I had to do the same thing! I miss my long hair, but am not complaining.

I am 3 months out and just started losing my hair bad.. After a shower or brush it fills my brush :( how long should I expect to keep losing?? I really feel like if it keeps falling out at this rate I will have Patches of no hair... I'm trying to stay positive but it's stressing me out.. I have lost 50 pounds which I am grateful for but just would like to hear from someone with a timeframe to expect it to get better.. Thanks

They say that if you're going to lose hair at all it usually starts between 2 to 5 months after surgery and lasts until 5 to 7 months after surgery, depends when it starts falling out. I noticed I started losing it at around 4 months after surgery and has started to now stop at 6 1/2 months out. So, it lasted 2 1/2 months for me. I have thin/fine hair to begin with so it doesn't look that great, but I am thankful it has all but stopped falling out!! It WILL get better, hang in there :-)

I'm 6 weeks out and I started losing large amounts of hair about 2 weeks ago. I clean out the brush every morning.

On top of that, my complexion is suffering. I've got dry Patches all of my face that even my combo of face wash, gentle scrub, and moisturizer is not working. I don't know what else to do.

I started losing my hair at about 3 months. Lasted for about 3 more months. My hair looks really healthy and shiny now. As for the skin....I am so thankful for this surgery because of my new soft skin (as well as many more reasons). I used to have pimples everywhere, including arms, legs, butt, back and face. Now a year and a half later and my skin is so smooth and soft, no more acne at all!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
