I am about 5 months post-op and I think I had a stomach virus. I'm now in day 4 of all of this. I have nausea, terrible diarrhea, stomach cramps, and can hardly eat. If it weren't for the anti-nausea meds I have from surgery I am pretty sure I would be vomiting too. What I do eat goes right through me. I still struggle with being able to drink a lot so I have to take sips often which is also a struggle. I know I'm dehydrated. I have been drinking some Gatorade but again this is difficult as even before surgery it upset my stomach. I called the dr on Friday and they of course said Clear liquids and Imodium. I did that and it helped a little but as soon as the Imodium was done it came back plus I was very bloated. I plan to call again tomorrow since it has lasted through the weekend but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a hard time healing following a stomach bug. I've also had some back pain on my right side and my stomach pain is mostly located on the right side.

Other than this things have been pretty good. No regrets with surgery. I'm 81.5 pounds down which is amazing. I had complications during and following surgery but still no regrets! I have my daily struggles like everyone. Just want to feel better and get back on track! I am not getting all my Protein or calories in. I lost 5.5 pounds in two days!! I just wonder if the fact that I'm not healed 100% from surgery is affecting this bug!

Thanks in advance for any feedback! Please keep it positive! I seriously love my progress and decision to do this surgery! ????

I would call your doc again in the morning. I would be afraid I tore sore something after so long of not getting better. If nothing else, you can find out what bug you have and get meds for it. Let us know how you are!

I felt this way 3 days after surgery, I called my doctor bc I couldn't get anything down. He sent me to er, where they did a leak test, ultrasound, cat scan, MRI and blood work. Results: I had pancreatitis. Was admitted back into the hospital and finally came home yesterday. Treatment: 2 1/2 days of 1 liter of iv Fluid per hour and npo. I had the runs so bad which didn't make sense bc I didn't hardly drink. I was so sick that in 2 days post op I had about 6oz of fluid and like 10 bowel movements. Feeling a little better now. Hope you get to feeling better.

Well I called my surgeon this morning and they said there is nothing from the surgery that would make it hang on longer but that they have heard that this recent stomach bug has gi effects that last longer. I'm still waiting to hear from my pcp. I have a great pcp so I'm hoping that they have some good info I can use. I am worried about dehydration. And I'm just exhausted. I have been having dizzy spells too but I think that is from my blood pressure and heart rate being too low. I was on three different blood pressure meds before surgery. I've gone off of two of them bc my bp and hr dropped too low. :-) even tho I don't like how it makes me feel but I'm thrilled that the weight loss is helping me be healthier!

I'll post after I talk to my pcp. I'm sorry about your pancreatitis! I hope you feel better soon! I had a lot of complications following surgery but I can tell you that it gets better! Get lots of rest and listen to your body!

Well I went toy pcp who is running a battery of tests. Oddly I just read online that people who have the sleeve are more susceptible to ecoli due to having less stomach acid to kill off harmful levels of the bacteria. Apparently one of the tests he's doing is for ecoli. I thought it was interesting. Still feeling rough. Can't eat much and can't seem to get enough to drink. He may admit me for fluids etc. thanks for the comments!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
