Last step before submitting to insurance

Recommended Posts

On Monday, March 11th, I will attend the nutrition class at Duke completing the final step required prior to submitting to my insurance company (BCBSNC). Dr. Omotosho at Duke Raleigh seems to think my approval should occur easily and quickly based on my stats and their approval process. I weigh 265 and am 5' 6". The nurse said they would receive the nutrition report on Tuesday afternoon and submit that day probably receivig approval within a few days. Ideally, I can have surgery in March but based on his schedule it may not be until April. I am ready so the sooner the better.

Originally, my plan was to do the Lap Band but after continuing to do research and having a great conversation with the psychologist I changed my mind to the sleeve. My main concerns were having a foreign object in my body and the constant doctor visits for the adjustments. I also want to give myself the greatest opportunity for success and feel like the sleeve is the way to do that.

I am a mother of four children (ages 17,15,12, and 6) and 39 years old. Currently, I am not working but am looking forward to that changing in the near future. I have always worked but due to a series of events have been at home the past two years.

I feel like having the surgery will give me a huge tool in weight loss and reclaiming my body and self-confidence. I would love to hear from anyone that had or is having surgery with Duke.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
