I had a addiction to it also. Drank it everyday all day!!! I quit by just having one with each meal. Then just having one a day then a couple a week. I slowly cut them down to like now I have one once a month if even and they aren't as good as they used to be!! I'm set for my sleeve June 8th and the thought of never having a diet coke again doesn't bother me! I never thought I'd say that!!!

Cutting down was hard! I got headaches at first but they got better after a couple weeks. id eat drink lots of Water and take ibuprofen or excedrine!

Good luck

My addiction was Diet Dr. Pepper. I gave it up cold turkey when I started pre-diet and was surprised I had no issues. I used to drink it from the time I got up to the time I went to bed. I found it easy to give up because my nutritionist laid out what it does to my body and what it could do to my sleeve after surgery. That was enough to give me the willpower to let it go. I didn't go through all the prep, surgery, and the past three months of healing and losing weight to sabotage myself for a soda. I've only craved it one time since I gave it up. A few weeks ago in Walmart I walked past a display of it and could literally taste it. I took my cart and ran from the display.

Oh finally, someone that can relate. I LOVE COKE ZERO. I know it is insane addiction, but I just love the bubbles and the taste. That too for me is hard. Funny because I don't smoke, drink or do drugs, but COKE ZERO....whoop whoop...love it.

Well, so I just started cutting back BEFORE I had the surgery. Right before the surgery I got myself down to drinking maybe one every two weeks... and even then it was a 8 oz glass vs. the entire 20 oz bottle.

I had surgery on 8-4-15 and trust me I tried dipping my lips and tongue in a nice cool glass of coke, but I think the fear of busting my stomach wide open and just the gas that fills my gut after trying to drink some are proving to be enough of a deterrent for me.

I am pretty sure I will sneak little sips here and there if I see it, but I just don't buy it, not here, I can't drink it.

So, do yourself a favor, pour out all the Diet Coke you have. Get a 20oz bottle and when you just can't take it, take a small sip. Other than that, find another carbonation free alternative that you can LOVE.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
