Hello to all who read this, although I'm new to the forum and this is my first post, I've been spying on you guys for a while. (Sorry! ;) )

I still don't have a date for my surgery, I've been doing all the pre-op exams/blood work, et al. and get the results of my last exam in three days. I have some concerns about some of my results and am wondering if any of you have been through this.

I had my gastroscopy done 16 hours after my last meal (no liquids either), and the photos showed my last meal virtually intact (yes, I know I have to learn to chew more) still in my stomach -- 16 hours later! The gastroenterologist said I have an extremely slow digestive system, obviously, and that she could help me with medication. I have an appointment with her the day after tomorrow and I guess we'll discuss that, but she's not part of the bariatric doctors team who'll do my surgery. So I guess my question is, will I have to go through some lengthy treatment before surgery in order to fix whatever's making me keep all my meals in my stomach for hours on end? Will I get rejected for surgery because of my lazy digestive system? I can only imagine having to eat once a day after surgery 'cause my stomach will always be full... Or being declined for surgery, which would be an awful blow. If it were up to me I would have had the surgery two months ago.

So, has anyone else had an extremely slow digestive system?

If it helps, I'm 34, 5'5", 220 lbs and my metabolism runs at -10 mph as well.

I look forward to getting more involved in the forum, and thank you for reading.

I had this problem and eventually I started throwing up my undigested meals...it turned out to be a bad gall bladder. Did you doctor say anything about your GB?

Laura, I too wonder what type of medication I'll get. I'll post it as soon as I know.

Bee, when they did the abdominal sonogram they found two very small gallbladder stones, yet all my urine tests are completely normal, and the gallbladder itself looked normal (except for the stones). I wonder if they have anything to do with my lazy stomach.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
