Going to miss the most

Recommended Posts

I'm with u kat.

I too love love love diet coke. But, its gotta go. I just can't stop myself pre-op 6 months out. Maybe when I'm closer like you I'll do better.

I'm now post-op and honestly, I miss it far less than I thought I would! I gave it up as part of my pre-op diet in the week leading up to surgery. It was tough, but I was so focused on everything surrounding getting ready for surgery, it was kind of a blip on the radar.

Now that I'm post-op, I'm not even tempted. I'm pretty sure that the carbonation would not be a welcome sensation in my esophagus and tummy right now.

I know others on the forum who are able to drink sparkling and mineral Water farther post-op, but it's not for me right now. :)

I don't hate coffee, but living in Florida where it's often 80+ degrees in the morning for 8 months out of the year, it always seemed ridiculous to be drinking something hot. :) I might switch to unsweetened tea. I'm currently a big Water drinker, after working last year to get my Diet Coke habit down from about 3 liters a day to about 20 oz. I don't like plain Water, though, and usually am drinking water with True Lemon or a lime or something in it. I'm not too worried about the diuretic effect, though, of any caffeine I might get.

Try the mio energy drops. I don't like to drink plain water but these are sugar free no cal no fat.

I keep seeing Red Robin commericals and all I want is a big fat cheesy hamburger with freaking fries. I am 7 days post op and the head hunger is messing with me. I am pretty proud of myself though I have been making my hubby meals and had no desire for anything, I just sip on my Protein Shakes like a good girl. For people with diet soda addictions I had the same thing for coke zero. Like 5 weeks before my surgery I weaned myself off of soda, it was soo hard. Then I did a week of Atkins, figuring I could get my body in ketosis but still eat fats. In my opinion it helped so much in my transition to the preop diet, I did 2-3 Protein shakes with a salad/chicken/tuna for my preop, if I was starving which I really wasn't I would have a little more salad or more protein.

I won't miss hiding out these last few summers because I'm too fat to fit on a roller coaster, which was a yearly tradition with my teenage son!

I will miss soda. It's amazing how many heavy people down diet soda. I downed regular Sierra mist. I love, love soda. To my understanding that's really the only thing I can't have eventually that I care about.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
