Yes...exactly what I was looking for!

Anyone getting fills - does all of this advice hold true?

I think being hydrated is so true. The only problem I have is my doctor doesn't want me to eat or drink after midnight the night before a fill. I get my 2nd one tomorrow and I am trying to drink as much liquids today as possible, so I can't follow the instructions about drinking an hour before a fill since I'm not allowed.

I'm also on my menstrual cycle, so I'm doing the No-No and having a fill. I was tighter this weekend, but it has loosened up now and I'm about over the TOM, so I think it will be okay.

I do believe that it sometimes takes 2 weeks before the fill settles in.

Hi all,

Just checking in. I'm headed for my second fill tomorrow. I have lost about 10 pounds since my last fill, about seven weeks ago. I am eating properly except Portion Control and I'm hoping the new fill will help that. I don't have hunger pains unless I go well over time to eat, which sometimes happens, but not too often. My total weight loss is 33 pounds since surgery. I'm pleased with that. I do get jealous of others who lose rapidly but I have not engaged in much for structured exercise (my bad). I'm working on getting that going. I do live a very active lifestyle, but I think your body gets used to a certain level of activity and then just holds onto calories, so I have to "kick it up a notch" as Emeril would say.

Hope you are doing well and having some great days!

Shawn

I had my 3rd office visit today. Im glad to say that I have not yet had to have a fill. I have lost 81bs as of today. I really cant believe how fast the weight is coming off. I was wearing a size 58 pant and a 5xlt shirt before surgery. I am now wearing a loose 48 pant and wearing 3xlt shirts.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Joe

It's good to hear from everyone who is checking in! There are some fabulous results being posted.

The males on this thread are really going to make some of us females jealous with the way the weight is just falling off... LOL

As for me, I have my 2nd fill today. My surgeon does them himself, and he doesn't use xray/flouro. So far, mind you, it's only been one so far, we haven't had any problems. ;)

Anyway, I've got a NSV...a real one. LOL. I've been waiting for this moment. Anyway, I was going out this weekend and was running late because my jeans were in the dryer and refused to dry. So, there I was standing in my closet trying to find something to wear when I remembered my old pair of jeans which were still brand new three years ago when I grew out of them. :) So, I say what the heck, pull them off the hanger and right on. I didn't even have to lay on the bed to button or zip. I was shocked...more then shocked.

I'll admit that I had tried them on about three weeks ago, and had said then that I'd be in them in about two or three weeks. But that was before my weight lose plateaued for about the same amount of time. And, I'm still sitting on that plateau, too... So...there's my NSV...moving from growing tight 28's to a comfortable 24. Not bad, hunh? :D

There was some advice I'd read from an older bandster that said..."If you've got some clothes you've been saving for when you're smaller....better try them on today..." Never thought it would apply to me, being in the larger sizes we tend not to drop sizes that fast (yes, part of my problem was my clothes "grew" with me). Apparently, I was wrong.

That truly is a NSV! Maybe that is what is happening to me. I'm only down 4 lbs since last month, but I'm getting more and more compliments, and my jeans are really big. Good bye 16's and hello 14's! I've already given up my 18's, got rid of all of them, I've been holding on to my 16's, but I about to get rid of them too. I have been wearing some of my 14's but don't have many, so I'll be shopping a little before I get rid of all my 16's.

Glad to hear everybody doing so well.

Yesterday morning I tried to heat some grits for Breakfast and after the second spoonful they came right up. So that afternoon I tried eating fish two bites I was full. For dinner I was able to get through a (gerber) bowl of taco meat w/ cheese.

This morning I tried two sausage patties I was only able to eat 1 1/2. Now I am sitting at my desk trying to eat chili a 8 oz serving. I have come to realize that this second fill comes and goes but I believe it is back with a vengeance. I like that

I haven't lose any more but thank God I haven't gained any. I have increased my Water intake and I have a better attitude.

Tonya, I bet that is what is going on. I'm still new at this, but it appears for me to be going in cycles. I drop inches, then the lbs, then the inches, etc.

At least I hope it's going in a cycle. I'm too excited to stop losing now. :)

Purposedriven, do you think you may be too tight? Just wondering. There are so many different views on this point, but I've noticed that it's the days that my calories were increased a tad bit, that I drop. When, in my opinion, I'm eating the best...I sit still. Then when the weekend comes around, and I go up maybe 100 - 200 calories, I drop a lb or two. Its such a delicate balance, but I do believe that when we do not get the right amount of calories in, we stall out and stop losing. Granted there are many factors that could cause a plateau, but I'm pretty sure that our bodies going into starvation mode is definitely one.

Either way, please make sure you're getting all of the proper nutrition, especially Protein, that you need.

I'm going for fill #2 in about 2 hours. I can't have anything to eat or drink and I'm dying for some water! I'm a bit nervous getting another fill, I have no problems right now with my fill, and I'm worried about being too tight, but I think I need another fill. I'm eating more than I should, and I've only lost about 4 lbs last month (but I might have lost more in inches - will find out tomorrow when I take my measurements).

I know most people say they can't eat chicken/bread/steak etc. I can eat it all. I don't, but I can if I wanted to. I eat chicken on a daily basis pretty much, i stay away from bread, and I love steak.

Hope everyone else is doing okay, looks like we are all moving downward, some slower than others which is okay. Slow & steady wins the race as they say. We are all impatient and want the weight off TODAY, but I really do believe that it is not healthy for your body to lose so fast, but I know its hard to go slow.

Well, better get to work.......will check back later.

Hi Tonya,

Like you, I probably can eat anything but I do avoid bread. I'm afraid, to be honest, but whatever it is in my head, it keeps me from eating it. I eat steak and chicken, some fish, etc.

I'm going to work on hydrating today and in the days to come. I've slacked off and need to get it going again. My fill is this afternoon and the Dr. hasn't given any tidbits of advise pre-fill, just liquids post fill.

TAke care,

Shawn

Hi everyone,

Just got my 2nd fill on Friday. I definitely feel restriction this time. The PA at my office does my fill without x-ray and there haven't been any problems so far.

Has anyone noticed that the "full" feeling isn't really in your stomach but in your chest. My stomach feels empty but I feel like there's no room to put anything in my throat/chest. Is this the way I'm supposed to feel?

Let me know, thanks!

P.S. Everyone's doing so great. I have only lost 18 lbs and my surgery was 1/16. I really haven't felt any restriction until now. Hopefully the weight will start coming off now. Keep up the good work. You are all motivating to me.

Hey everyone, I've had my second fill. I didn't feel much change, at least not like the first time. My surgeon stated that he put alot in, though. He did take some out, even though I thought I was okay. So he added about another 2 cc in. Which brings me to around 6cc, I think. That would mean half of what he told me my band would hold.

So, I'm doing liquids today, and tomorrow. I'll start back on mushies on Thursday, Soft foods on Friday, and solids on Saturday. I'm actually stretching my liquids out one day more then they told me I have to.

I think the Water is going down a little slower, but I really haven't noticed much change. I think I'm actually scared to try. LOL. Which could be the reason I'm pushing liquids for an extra day.

Oh well, up to now, I've been with Tonya and Shawn, able to eat anything without a problem. The amounts were greatly reduced, but I didn't have a problem getting them down. Unlike them, I did eat bread. But not like I use to. I'd do a little bit of toasted bread maybe once or twice a week. Typically if I was going out with others. I know, I've got to change habits. I think I've got a good start, it use to be three slices or more per day. Then if you included the Buns on hamburgers, which I am proud to say that I have NOT had since prior to surgery, I think I'm doing pretty good.

Tonya, I'm sure you will, but let us know how your fill goes.

I just got back from Fill #2. I was at 2.2cc's in a 4cc band, now I'm at 3.0 cc's - I can feel the Water going down, so I have a lot of restriction right now. Its hard to tell in the beginning, I think it takes about a week or 2 to really see where you are at restriction wise.

I am to be on liquids for a few days, He said today and tomorrow, then soft foods for a day, then regular diet. I'm having a starbucks light frappochino right now - and I can only drink 1/2 of it, too full. I love it!

I can't wait to get out of the 190's, I can't wait to say good-bye to the 190's FOREVER! 180's, HERE I COME!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
