  1. Hi all! I was banded by Dr. Vohra, Hewlett. I fought my insurance company from September 06 until January 07. I finally won and had the surgery 3 days after AETNA granted my approval. My BMI was under 39 and I had NO CO_MORBIDITIES. My insurance company denied me 5 DAYS before my first scheduled op date in September. I hired an attorney (crappy one) and then wrote letters on my own, had a telephone conference call with an AETNA doctor, nurse, supervisor and PA. I pled my case (emotionally) and was approved days later. The squeaky wheel gets the oil. Don't give up. Dr. Vohra is an excellent surgeon, but his office is run like a 3-ring circus.
  2. Hi everyone, Just got my 2nd fill on Friday. I definitely feel restriction this time. The PA at my office does my fill without x-ray and there haven't been any problems so far. Has anyone noticed that the "full" feeling isn't really in your stomach but in your chest. My stomach feels empty but I feel like there's no room to put anything in my throat/chest. Is this the way I'm supposed to feel? Let me know, thanks! P.S. Everyone's doing so great. I have only lost 18 lbs and my surgery was 1/16. I really haven't felt any restriction until now. Hopefully the weight will start coming off now. Keep up the good work. You are all motivating to me.
  3. I am going for my 2nd fill tommorow at 1:45 pm. I was told that I may not even have a cup of coffee in the AM. Has anybody else been told not to eat or drink anything on the day of a fill? I appreciate your help. Thanks! Amy
  4. Hi! I'm Amy, I was banded 0n 1/16. Please add me to the list. Thanks!
  5. Hi and thanks for answering. I find that I get full on less food than before the band, but I still eat too much. Do you find that you make a decision to stop eating or you really don't want to eat?
  6. Hi January Bandster friends. I was just on vacation and have very little restriction. I have only had 1 fill and I am due for my next one this Friday. Can someone explain to me how you feel when you know the band is actually working? Unfortunately, I dont remember what it feels like to be full and thats why I had this surgery. When will I feel as if I had surgery? I've only lost 18 lbs and I'm feeling discouraged and hating myself. HELP.....
  7. Thanks for the advice... I just get so discouraged. I have friends that joined WW and they have lost more than me and I had surgery!! I'm from NY too. Good luck to you!
  8. Please help!!! I got my first fill last Friday. I dont feel a huge difference, but I've definitely reduced my portions and trying to eat the correct foods. I HAVE NOT LOST 1 LB!!! What is going on??? Anyone else out there with the same problem?
  9. Has anyone out there received the 10cc band? I just got filled 4cc in the large band and do not feel much restriction at all. Please tell me what restriction feels like. Oh and by the way, what does PB mean? (I'm a chubbah so I think of peanut butter!) lol

I have to ck. w/ gabe on how many cc. i got. Today, Saturday, I woke up and had a cup of coffee. Of course, I had to spend the rest of the day sabotaging myself. I proceeded to eat cookies(5), lf yogurt, oatmeal, cheez stix and frozen yogurt at night. O f course, I don't feel too much of a difference from the fill. Ive got to stop testing and challenging myself. (25)

I was finally filled today for the first time. I was feeling as if I never had the surgery. Gabe said I should come back in 4 wks because he wasn't sure if I would feel a substantial difference. I am on clear fluids for 3 days and then I go to mushy food for 3 days. Right now I am starving! (3/16/07) Promised myself that I will start walking at least 3X/week. Must exercise. Must keep up with the fills and must go to the support groups.
