Have you gotten a fill yet?

Nope, no fill yet. Tuesday will only be 4 weeks for me, and doc won't do them until at LEAST 6 weeks out. That would put me around 3/15. However when I called him last week to schedule the fill - I was told that my insurance has a 90 day 'hold' for fills - won't cover it until then, which would put me at the end of April. The cost to me would be nearly $1000 dollars after surgeon and hospital fees. I called my insurance, who told me that i have no such 'hold' on my policy - I called surgeon back to let them know...and I'm still waiting on a call back to see what the deal really is.

All I know is if I have to wait until the end of April, I'll certainly gain weight back. What a shame if there really IS a hold...since I've suffered to loose the 17 lbs or so that I have already lost.

Tomorrow is my first fill!!!! Can't wait and nervous all at the same time....sounds about like the same post 6 weeks ago!!!

I started excercising last week and it's amazing how much weight has dropped since then! My scales show 24.5 pounds and a loss of 11.5 inches. Can't wait to see what the doctors scales show......will try to do a ticker thingy tomorrow.

How is everyone doing that's already had their first fill?

Good Luck. I get mine on Tuesday. I started exercise this week but my body responds the opposite way and I stop losing. Hopefully the fill will get it going again.

So, I haven't been posting again. Basically I was in the hospital (non lap-band related) and my mom told the doctor's/therapists that I had a lapband and all they gave me was chicken broth :faint: ! So, after checking myself out last night, I got to eat a turkey burger! If you want to know what happened, PM me, it's something I don't want the WHOLE board reading about.

So to bring myself back up, I weighed myself this morning and I lost.....37 lbs since surgery!!! I can't believe it, I think the "yummy" chicken broth helped!

Guys, please please please be careful with depression post-op. I didn't think it would happen to me and it did, really bad. So if you feel glum or blue, don't think it's just a bad day or hormones, please talk to someone. Don't end up in my situation and eating chicken broth in a "special" part of a hospital.

Since my surgery, it's been like a freaking roller coaster, the ups and downs are so crazy! Other than that, it's worth my health, I finally had to buy a new bra and it didn't come from a box (Playtex 18 hours anyone?). Soon I'm going to have to buy some new pants, because my behind is SAGGING (the pants, not my actual rear end lol). I'm working out more and enjoying life for as much as I can. I'm not listening to what people say or feel about it if it's negative. I just let my motto live with me (since it's literally tattooed on my back) "Nolite te bastardes carborundorum" or "don't let the bastards grind you down"

Shues - I had a friend suffer through the rough depression afterwards too, but I didn't know this then. Before my surgery the nurse emphasized it, pointing out that many people DON'T expect it and don't even remembered she said it pre-surgery. Thank you for the reminder and I hope you're doing just great!!

Today I have an appointment for a first fill - I'm apprehensive and excited all at once. Maybe it's partly psychological, hm? I won't get it until this afternoon but already I don't feel like eating solid food. LOL

I just add lentils to Water 1/2 cup lentils to 1 1/2 cup water and simmer for about an hour. I boil it first for about 5 minutes first, then turn it down. Then I add some salt. It is very tasty!

I Love Lentils and I am wondering If you have ever cooked them in chicken broth ? I have never cooked them from scratch before I always open a can ! But it sounds just like split peas and I cook those in chicken broth instead of water :-) Since the broth is salty I guess you would need to be careful when adding extra salt.

Anyway thanks for the receipe.

Joanne

Shues, Congrats on your weight loss ! I'm just sorry it was under such a stressful situation.

It sounds like you are on the mend now and if I had lost 37 pounds I think that would be a real mood elevator for me ;-)

I think that is what is going on with me too. I am trying to fight it but I wonder if I am fighting a losing battle. I hate the way the meds make me feel and I swear they make me gain weight so I was using my workouts to raise my endorphins. It was manageable until I had surgery and had no energy so I didn't go to the gym and the cycle continues. You need energy to do the workout but the workout gives you energy. I have been forcing myself to go now. Plus the scale is creeping up because I have no restriction. I am getting a fill tomorrow. I am debating re-filling my script for anti depressants. ugh. Hang in there and I am glad you are feeling better.

I cook them with ham hocks or ham shanks for flavor too. Same with Split peas. Celery and carrots and make a Soup out of them. I need to do that sometime soon.

I told my Doctor I did not want a fill at this point. The weight is falling off and I have plenty of resitriction. He agreed that we wouldnt touch it unless I started feeling hungry or the weight loss slowed or stopped. I have had no problems as of today.(Pb's, Nausea, etc....) I can eat anything but just smaller portions. My average day consists of:

Breakfast: Advantage Protein Shake (during morning commute)

Mid Morning: 1 Scrambled egg w/ Salsa or a Yogurt

Lunch: chicken breast 1/4 veggies or Soup, Chilli etc

Snack: sugar free pudding or apple sauce

Dinner: Lean meat 1/4 cup of veggies.

48-64 oz of Water per day.

On the weekend we go out and have pizza and I can usually eat 3/4 to 1 slice. I cant believe how easy this has been for me. I guess Im one of the lucky ones. I do try to walk about 30 minutes everyday also. Im 6'5 and all of my friends laugh at me, but they are all very proud.

It looks like you are eating a pretty good balance of protien foods and water. And you can treat yourself with a piece of Pizza on the weekend too:) You are a real inspiration.

As for me each day that goes buy I am hungrier:hungry: and hungrier:hungry:

With no hope for a fill until 3/15:faint: I'm just trying to maintain my 23 lb loss. Today I am starting back on the Meal Replacement bars and the only protien shake I can tolerate is Glucerna:phanvan so I am having that for dinner tonight. I'm going to try and kick up the protien since that does help hold the hunger down.

Be very ,very happy that you have not reached Lap Band Hell that many of us are experiencing right now...... No restriction but still 10 days or more from being able to get the first fill.

Keep up the great work !:clap2:

Thanks Joanne! Hang in there and Im sure you will be fine. One thing I have realized is that Hunger pains dont hurt anymore than being to full. Everything is about balance. For the first time In my life I have realized that I dont have to eat a ton of my favorite foods to be satisfied but rather take my time and enjoy the quantity that I do eat.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
