January Bandsters???

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to check in. I can't believe that it has been 1 month since I was banded. Where has time gone? I am doing great! I have lost 28lbs and am following the full liquid/soft diet well. I have to see the nutritionist on friday, so I think that I will be able to advance my diet a little more. I still feel like I have restriction. I drink a Protein Shake every morning and am full for 6 hours or more. I don't have an appointment for a fill until the 3rd week of March. I hope my fullness lasts. Anyway, I would love to take part in an exercise challenge. I love going to the gym and exercising. So far this week, I've gone Monday and Tuesday. I plan to go tomorrow too. Well, I just wanted to give an update. I'm going to read my book. Goodnight! Gigi

Thatgirl - you don't sound whiny at all! you sound just like what a lot of us are going through. I also tried to bug my doctor to give me a fill at the first appt. He didn't even take me very seriously - so that didn't work - haha! I finally had a fill yesterdy - we'll see how it goes. The 5th week was actually the most annoying for me - trying to adjust to solid food while seeming to be hungry or wanting more or something.

Hang in there - everything you're saying is OH so normal - at least around this board.

From snowy, stormy Oregon!

thanks so much, Emerald- what was funny was when I called last week (not at even 3 weeks yet :) ) trying to get a fill (I know, I know) the lady who answered told me that at 2 weeks she had called and yelled at the person who told her she had to wait 6 weeks, so I didn't feel so bad.

Sula- I am going to look in to appetite surpressants, I think. I am also going to call this week and see if maybe my surgeon thinks I can have a fill at 5 weeks.

Tulip, I am trying to think that way too- anything else before the 3 month mark is a bonus.. (I am going to need to write that on my scale). I just read about people banded at the same time as me with all this weight loss already and I am thinking- good grief, I think by the time I get my first fill I won't even be down any. :cry

nurseratchet, you always crack me up. :laugh Yeah, it is a good thing I don't have to pay for my fills, or I would definitely have to wait. It's one of those months (paycheck to paycheck!) I haven't had laughing cow in a long time, I have to get some of that.

 Thanks, everyone- I cannot tell you how much all your ideas and support are helping me.

I know exactly how u feel. I read all the post and I feel like such a failure. I was banded 1/22 and have only lost 6lbs. I get depressed everytime I read the post. I have no restriction but I don't get hungry. like today I got so busy I didn't eat until 6 this evening. I know I have to plan more. I know that I am going to b alright, but I am so in bandster hell.

I just don't want to be like my friend who was banded 6 yrs ago and Is still 300lbs. please pray for me.

God will perfect those things that concern me.

I will loose the weight & I will feel great about me.

You are totally in my thoughts and prayers, I think some of us will be a bit slower but that's okay. As my buddy who had gastric bypass reminded me, "keep your eyes on the prize, sister!" so I am trying to do that... I keep trying to remind myself, I have the tool I need now, just heal and keep working at it and give yourself until the 3 month mark to get too caught up in numbers. (I am not always good at that) but you have all of us, and you will probably find after a couple fills that you are going to make it:girl_hug: hugs!

I totally think we should start a January Bandsters Exercise Challenge thread... of course, I say that hating exercise and having not done too well about it since surgery but hey-

maybe this challenge is just what I need to make exercise a more regular part of my life.

:)

Does anyone know how to set one up?

Hi,

I'm Debbie, I was banded on 1/8/07. I just register to this forum last night, but I've been reading all the great info since 12/06. I would love to be a part of an exercise challenge. I have been more hungry the last two weeks than I have been since I was banded. I've noticed that on the days I exercise my hunger is in control a lot better. The nurse at my doctors office suggested eating more protien on the days that I'm having a problem, she said I shouldn't gain eating protien even if it's more than the 1/2 cup they recommend. This really makes me nervous to eat more, I so afraid that I will start to gain!

My turn to check in...

I got my first fill last Thursday. It went well -- it was so easy. I was on liquids all day that day. That weekend, though, wow... I could eat ANYTHING. I even ate two pieces of pizza (thin crust, at least) Sunday night! Come Monday morning things changed very quickly. My fill kicked in like mad. I could only manage 3 bites of cottage cheese and 4 peach slices and I was full! Wow! It's been going on like that today too. I hope it keeps up. I even notice I have to be careful how big of sips of Water I take. Now, if I can only get going with the exercise, I should be in good shape (pun intended haha)!

I'm a little bummed out this week though. I'm so so bloated from PMS. I can't wait to go back on the pill next cycle. It's just sucks to have tight jeans when everything has been so good the past month. I know it's transient though... I'll probably pee out 5lbs at the end of this week!

Maria

I hope i get some restriction coming in like that. I also hear near the period people get more restriction.

You feel restriction at 1 cc and I have 1.2 cc's and feel very little. I did feel more restriction when I had chicken for dinner.

Just checking in today!

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 3 slices turkey bacon

Lunch: 6 cold cuts and 3 light Laughing Cows

Snack: 1 very small piece of chocolate cake

Snack: 20 almonds

Dinner: 1 chicken breast and 1/2 potato

Liquids: 64 ounces

liquid vitamins

I noticed I felt restriction with dinner. I think if my meal is too much of a mushy I don't feel restriction.

Yes...I'm in! Please let's start a Jan Bandster exercise challenge thread. I know that it would help. Anyone know how to set this up? Or we can always just jump in a thread that's already started. I did 45 min on the treadmill last night...it's a big deal for me because I usually only do about 25 min. I HAVE to start moving. I have plans to hike in the mountains near my home this summer and I'd love to train for a half marathon....just to say that I did it.

Sorry I hopped on so late! Add me to your Banded January 2007 List. I was banded with the Vanguard (?) 11 (the BIG one) on January 19, 2007, by Dr. Benavides in Dallas (he is WONDERFUL). I've had one fill, 4.2cc's, and currently reside in Bandster Hell (can eat anything I want, am hungry, and have to diet til next fill). Lost 26 initially (pre and 4 weeks post-op). scale time tomorrow, and not looking forward to it!

Keep it up, love!

Cindi - welcome!

I will add you to the list - I'm behind on the list and really need to catch up. Hopefully I will have some time to do it tonight.

Congrats on your weight loss so far. You were banded a day after me!

Hey everyone, I'm glad we got the March exercise challenge started, I set up a small goal, but I want to progressively set up bigger goals through the months. I haven't had a fill yet, I feel like I'm the last one on this board w/out one! I go in March 21st though, so I feel like it's finally here!

Once summer gets here I will be in the pool swimming laps....so come on Summer :clap2:

I found some Frozen Zuchinni Patties for 70 Cal I haven't tried them yet BUT I will let you know if they are any good right now everything sounds good to me:hungry: Wellllll with the

exception of that Nasty protien drink :( I spent so much $$

40 Bucks a box at GNC (Myoplex) because the Nutrionist reccomended it so highly UGH!!:omg: I had to have my husband take the boxes over to a friends house The sight of the boxes makes me physically ill. I lived on the stuff for a month and the thought of it makes me sick:sick

Well On that happy note I am 2 weeks and counting til my first fill :biggrin1:

Has anyone been having really vivid dreams? It seems that since I've been banded I remember most of my dreams. I know it's weird but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the band. I usually don't eat after 6pm. I'm not sure what is going on. I know I'm a freak!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
