December Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hey Va-

I think I may call and try and get a fill for next week. Except I push on my port site and it's still a little sore deep down in there so i worry that I should let it heal a little more... I also noticed I'm eating more at one sitting. I felt like I ate more than usual yesterday but this morning the scale was lighter than yesterday... I also notice - even though the scales not dropping much - the jeans are so something is happening. I took a pic with my son yesterday on my digital camera and when i got home i looked at it and said, "wow, my face is skinnier!" so things are happening - slowly but surely! I think once i get the fill it'll start coming off quicker.

Lucky,

Yeah, I still feel some tenderness in the port area as well, but I don't think it will affect getting a fill since the Fluid is going to the band, not the port. I can't Wait to get my first fill next week!! I am able to eat like a cow again, although am really using my willpower NOT to b/c I don't want to gain any back that I've lost so far!

If you get your fill, let me know how it goes!

Slow and steady wins the race, right?? My doc said no fills until the 6 week healing time has passed, so if it is still tender to the touch, I bet that means it is still healing!! Just a thought.

It was so much easier to check in today, so fewer posts!!! I think since a large group within this group took off to another place (yeh, being I just got here, I was a little offended by that, but whatever, there are other GREAT people left behind with me... so I'm happy about that!) And it has made it easier to stay caught up!!! :) YEH!

I also have been able to eat more lately. This has me concerned, although my weight has not gone up much... I can't wait for my first fill!

Talk soon folks!

Jess

Lucky-- How cool you can see a difference in pics! I hate having my picture taken, but maybe I won't soon enough.

Jess-- I agree with you! We have a great group. I'm new to the site and love the info I'm getting from all of you! It helps soooo much to hear people going through all of it, too.

Today I realized how much I think about food. I need to keep myself busy....4 more days til I start Pase 2. I get fruit juice, broths, yogurt and 3 helpings of friut a day. (Boiled or pureed) I'm very excited! LOL

Dream - it certainly helps me to stay busy!!!! Mon-Fri is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier than the weekend!!!!! hahaha

Lucky - congrats to you that you see a difference already! I had a friend of mine who has photoshop take my pic before I started my pre-op diet and my pic at 2 weeks post-op and put them on top of one another... SO AWESOME that you can see a difference already! Mostly in my ass, belly, and chin! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

jameza40-- So, very cool about the loss...but what do we do about the loose skin? I worry about my face and chins area.

Maybe cause I'm older. You younger gals don't have to worry as much?

I had no idea people had left. That kind of sucks. I thought we were all supporting each other.

Ah well, I kind of lay low anyway. :)

I am going to go with FillCentersUSA.com. They have an office in St. Pete and I heard they use fluoro. I'm going in about a month. Can't wait!

Good afternoon, Ladies (and gent?)

I've decided to hire a nutritionist to help me sort out all the Vitamins, Protein, ..., issues that are so confusing. We'll meet next week after I have my first follow up appt. with the doc. She's very wholistic, so I'll let everyone know what she says. One interesting tip was hydrotherapy. She said that while showering, set the stream to hit your stomach and turn it up as hot as you can take it for a minute, then to cold, and so on four times, finishing with hot. It will improve digestive circulation and promote healing. I'm waiting until the steri strips fall off and then I'll try it.

Goal for the weekend- drink Water. I have not dropped in days and I think this is why. It's hard to push fluids in between meals, but I vow to be better!

Take care, all. Do something good for yourselves. I'm thinking mani-pedi...

Dream - I worry about skin issues too, bc I have SO much to lose!!! I am only 28, so I hope being young helps a little --- and I know they say strength training also helps a bunch! So, start lifting - even if small weights! I am joining curves on Monday, now that my doc gave me the go-ahead to lift again! WOO!!!

Maurdan - :omg: Yes, I actually ACCIDENTLY ran into their thread (they weren't even that secrative about it - I caught it in the "recent posts" section!!!) It is titled "Steady Losers" and apparently they don't want any newcomers and actually discussed how to keep us out (something also mentioned to just ignore us if we found them)!!!!! :rolleyes

Like I said before, I was offended at first, being this is a place for support. BUT, that being said - it is a lot easier to manage this site now that it is PAGES AND PAGES of posts to catch up on each visit! Oh well........ what can we do? We can't force people to like talking to us. We have each other, right???

Siyah, I have to brag just for a second. My program though GBMC in Baltimore actually INCLUDES the lifetime use of their nutritionist, as well as a therepist, support groups, educational sessions, nurse practitioner, etc.. etc.. Isn't that great? All in their $300 one-time office fee. BUT, I commend you on getting your own since you did not have one offered to you! Mine has helped IMMENSLY! She gave us a binder full of info - it is priceless. If you need assistance in what you can or can't have in any of the stages PM me and I'll scan you a few pages to keep you on track!!!! ;) Also, I'm real interested in what kind of tips your wholistic doc will give you! The shower thing sounds interesting!!!! I will tell you, those damn steri-strips drove me CRAZY! Once they started curling really good, I helped them along! :speechles

ANNNNNNNNNNNNND, my WONDERFUL boyfriend presented me with a GC for a mani/pedi and haircut/highlight for a "post-op gift"!! That was a wonderful treat! So, go and TREAT YOURSELF!!!!! :)

TAKE CARE!!!

Jess

I don't have too much time to write today, but I wanted to welcome all of the new December bandsters! I hope your surgeries went smoothly and that you are all on the mend! The liquid phase is the pits, no doubt, but it's gotta be done so your tummy can heal. Don't forget to take some Gas-X if you start getting pains in your chest!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
