Well good girl you knew what I was going to say!!

Ok let's talk meat, dense Protein. You will not stay full long lf you don't eat dense protein! You need to start getting some of your nourishment from that and not the shakes! Don't get me wrong I love the shakes have one every morning...

I know purée meat sounds gross I gave In and did it and it changed everything, you can do a little chicken and gravy and lightly blend it... But yogurts and most of that stuff you are eating will leave you hungry sooner!

You do not know the difference between acid and hunger. A stomach grumbles because the acid bubbles up in the empty space. When you have an excess of acid in a tiny sleeve, the SAME thing happens. It triggers the "I'm hungry and must eat" response that we learn early in life.

So the first thing is ALWAYS to either check that your PPI is working (we see a lot of folks on Prevacid need to change to something else) or to start on one if you aren't on it.

From there, fiddle with your diet. If you're on purees, you shouldn't be feeling hunger. It's common to suffer head hunger and acid problems in liquids, but not once you're on actual food.

Cheri has some good points, hopefully you are taking a ppi. I was lucky and don't have that issue of acid mimicking hunger but a lot do.

I know that when I eat an egg, like a scrambled egg it seems to stay with me longer.

I have found that i am a special case as all Protein Shakes make me throw up. And yes i've tried all kinds. plant, eggwhite, ect. I have had to go to soft solids before i really should have i'm actually 9 weeks out now so it's easier but i will find recipe's for sleeve patients like chicken salad or turkey tacos. even seafood salad. You make all the ingredients and then stick in a food processor it still tastes the same has the same Protein benefits just is in a baby food consistency.

Don't feel weird about the Protein Shakes, I was like that too. They would make me feel so freaking BAD. I have found that I can drink the prepared ready to drink protein and be just fine, but that is more expensive. I gotta do what I gotta do though.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
