Stalled - Suggestions for getting over the hump?

Recommended Posts

My surgery was on December 21, about six weeks ago. In the first month I lost approximately 35 lbs. In the last two weeks, nothing.

I know from reading posts on this forum and from chatting with the nutritionist at my surgeon's office that this is expected. Logically, I get it. Doesn't make it much easier, but I get it.

How did you get over the hump and start losing again? Any tips or tricks to help my body get through this would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I had taken my measurements per surgery and when the scale stops moving I do new measurements! Every time I have lost inches! If your close ate getting looser then all is good! Body needs to readjust to the quick weight loss! It's all good despite the little frustrations!

I too am an a 4 week stall, and I'm very frustrated. I started working out yesterday, so hopefully that will help me get over this stall. Emotionally, I want to start cheating, because the scale is not moving, but that's the behaviour that got me heavy to start with. So I perservere. I'm thinking of doing liquids for the next 3 days too like the post above.

Good luck and hang in there.

I had my sleeve done on dec 20 and have been stalled for about 4 weeks also :( it's so frustrating! I know in the long run I will be happy I did this for myself but right now not so much! I start at the gym Monday so I'm hoping that helps! Good luck all!!

I really don't think going back to liquids is a good idea. We are supposed to be training our tummies to tolerate regular food.

I was also stalled briefly (about a week or so, but seemed like forever). My NP suggested being strict about making sure I got 64 or more oz of Fluid per day and adding more exercise. Try examining your daily habits- fluids, exercise, menus, maybe there's something you can tweak slightly to get the scale moving again- even the littlest change/or improvement to your routine can help!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
