Recommended Posts

I just got back from doctor, diagnosed with flu. Got tamiflu, teriflu, and a cough med. but the thing that is saving me is the leftover pain meds from surgery. Been in bed for 3 days so far. Good luck guys it is miserable!

Yes, and it worked well last week when I took 1 mucinex DM a day. Tabs are big though!

So I went from feverish to okay in 2 days, but now it's a stomach thing.

TMI: I've been constipated since post op day 1. I've gone more times now(yesterday) than I have in the past 2 weeks. And I'm nauseous. But I'm not eating.

What the hell is this?

Oh, you might have the Norovirus. It is a stomach flu and has been an epidemic this year that originated from Australia (thanks guys!). It matches the symptoms you describe. I had the regular flu two weeks ago, not the Norovirus stomach flu, where I felt like the walking dead. Looked like it too. I am still getting over chest congestion, runny nose and cough today. Worst flu ever! I heard on the news that you can get something from the doctor to help with the stomach flu. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks. My cough is pretty much gone and chest has cleared up. I woke up this morning to a dream of throwing up in the toilet and ran to the bathroom but as I haven't eaten, I'm not surprised that nothing came out. But I didn't dry heave.

My stomach sounds like it wants relief but it's not like I can "dry poop"

I'm so confused. My boss thought I was calling out for the Super Bowl. I wish lol. I'll be in bed.

Should I go to the hospital? Or no?

I will say I've had a killer headache for 2 days as well

I am not a doctor of course, but my advice is to call the triage nurse at the clinic or hospital and describe your symptoms. They may want you to come in or they may just say to ride it out with OTC meds, Water and plenty of rest. I rode it out, but did make an effort to get some Tamiflu even though they denied my request (another story on another recent post).

There have been shortages of tamiflu. It was on the news with the news of the flu epidemic. Might be why the doc was hoarding it. Who knows. Just a thought.

EmergenC is the best thing I like bar none. The other things I'd usually take are hot tea and ColdFx. That stuff works well too for a faster recovery.

So I went to take mucinex right now and I have never got nausea with my sleeve. I took the pill and got extremely nauseas. I threw up the pill in a matter of 3 minutes. My stomach started to hurt so much! Never taking this again!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
