I am 6weeks post op and I know were not suppose to eat more than 1cup of food...now, does this go by ounces or what can fit in that cup. I am very confused, I emailed my NUT just awaiting her reply so I thought I would ask you guys. I am worried that I am eating too much. I can normally eat a 3oz(if that) piece of chicken and a couple bites of cottage cheese. Is this normal or too much? I need advice please and thank you.

At six weeks, I was barely able to get a half cup of food down...I was still using my med cups they gave me in the hospital... I could get down 3 of them...so 6 tablespoons... I dunno...

I'm 6 weeks out and still really struggle with food. Matter of fact... I haven't gotten my Water in a day yet.

I'm 8 weeks out and it's getting a bit easier, but most meals I still barely each 4 Oz (or 1/2 cup). From what I've read and been told by my NUT, though, people vary widely at this point.

Sounds pretty normal.

I do recommend an inexpensive food scale, though. Then you'll know for sure what you're eating. :) It really helps, because much like our brains see our bodies as larger while we're losing, they're also unused to seeing our portions of food as what they really are. It takes a lot of practice. I'd weigh everything for several months, until you're absolutely sure you can eyeball it...and even then? I still weigh every now and again just to double check myself!

Don't fret. It's hard to eat but if you eat too much, you're going to know it because you'll feel discomfort and that last bite will come back up. All sleeves are not created equal, so you might tolerate more of a dense Protein than someone else - but that doesn't mean you're eating too much, it just means you tolerate more than another person!

Good luck, and congrats on your new sleeve,

~Cheri

I am 8 weeks post-op & I can eat quite a bit depending on the consistency. For instance I can eat a whole 6 oz. container of greek yogurt no problem at all. I can also eat a whole cup of home made egg salad or egg beaters very easily. Solid Protein I can eat about 3 oz. & a little bit of vegetables too. I weigh everything on my food scale. Everyone is different. I thought that I was able to eat too much. I just stuck to my protein & carb guidelines & the weight is coming off. Just stick to your program & you will be just fine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
