So tomorrow I start the pureed/mushy stage. I am all ready with new things to try out - refriend Beans, ricotta bake, greek yogurt, eggs, etc. I am excited to have new foods but terrified of how they will make me feel.

Now my main concern - if we can only eat such small amounts, how are we supposed to get enough Protein? I am struggling with Protein as it is. I am choking down Protein shakes and nearly cry because I get so frustrated at how disgusting they are. I've tried many different kinds. I also dislike the clear/juice ones. I'm not big on juice to begin with.

What are/were your typical mushy food diets? I am very curious to see how people do this. On top of this, I have been at a stall for nearly 5 days now. I feel like I should be getting more protein and more fluids and I'm doing my best but it's still not enough. Today has been rough :(

I'm just about halfway through the mushy stage. The only way I can get my 70-80g of Protein in is with a shake a day.

Staples for me have been ricotta (warm, with salt, pepper and spray butter, or chilled with Splenda and vanilla/almond extract), ns/nf pudding with Protein powder mixed in, and Underwood deviled ham or chicken spread (not every day). Cottage cheese, ricotta or mushed salmon with light mayo have been staples.

To make the Protein shakes more palitable, I've been adding a few drops of peppermint oil or a flavored extract. Nice change of pace from plain vanilla or chocolate.

Do you like greek yogurt? It is very high in protein- 12 grams for 1/2 cup. Add SF preserves to it along with splenda or stevia- sooo good!

I started my purees and mushy this monday. What I have been doing is adding Protein Powder to whatever I am eatting. So far I have pureed chedder, corn and chicken Soup, sweet potatoes with pineapples, and tuna salad. I only have one shake a day because I already feel so full as it is. I use nectar unflavored whey Protein to blend with my food once its been cooked and pureed and you can't taste it at all (you can smell it though). Hopefully that can help you as well...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
