Interested in people over 55 who have had the Gastric Sleeve.

Anyone over 55 having the Gastric Sleeve Surgery? I'm over and I'm scheduled for Feb. 12th.

My pain wasn't bad, more like discomfort. I had a morphine pump but only used it to sleep. 13 is my favorite lucky #, born on the 13th and it has always been a favorable number. I had no complications and 10 months later over 100# down, and feeling great.

Thank you for the response. Your experience does help me.

Glad I found this! I am 59 (60) in May. I was sleeved 2/19 and adjusting well, healing well. I am beginning to walk on the treadmill again. I did this for health issues as well as weight loss. It is great hearing from others in my age bracket. I will look forward to hearing more from all of you.

Jibstep-glad to hear you are doing well!! I'm scheduled for Monday--count down. A little nervous-but excited about getting it done!

Mastiff-Mama - it does get better. Just takes a little time. I was sleeved Dec 3, 2012 so I am now 3 months out. The slow, chew, chew chew way of eating, the little bites, not drinking before or after eating - it all becomes your new normal. We need to be kind and patient with ourselves. It's all so different from how we lived our lives for years, so it will take a little while. Good luck!!

Thanks! I've been eating real food for a week and haven't lost a pound! I actually gained 2 since I initially lost 14. I hear about a 3 week stall... Hope this is all it is and that this surgery will work for me

I'm 3-1/2 weeks out from surgery and feeling great. I have more energy, I'm walking every day. The small portions are hard to get use to but not too bad. Eating slow is a change too. I lost 16 lbs. before and 14 lbs after surgery so far. 30 lbs...! Can't wait until I reach 50 lbs. Everyone waiting for their surgery, don't worry. It is over in a flash.

That is great for 3 weeks!! Hope I do that well getting sleeved on Monday!

i am 58 had surg 11/12. i have not found it easy, did my share of gagging and puking, many foods won't stay down.most importantly, i no longer have sleep apnea, which was putting me in a critical heart rhythm good luck.

I'm 56 and had surgery Feb 13, 2012. I am feeling great, enjoying life, and really thankful that I was able to get the VSG. I wish my husband could get it but he failed his psych eval - they felt he would not be able to follow the regimen. Isn't that sad? Now he's 70, about 150 lbs overweight, and is in terrible pain all the time from his knees (which he refuses to get worked on). Sometimes i think he just likes being miserable so he has something to complain about :-(

I have lost 24 lbs so far. I am thankful for any weight loss. I did this for my health issues. Prayers for you for speedy recovery and weight loss and good health!

I am 58 had surgery 10/29 off blood pressure mess lost 57 pounds if u want specifics let me know. No regrets my timing was perfect praise god

My liquid diet consisted of 3 Myoplex Lite protein shakes (buy in pharmacy or grocery store) per day in the beginning, later it went to 2, then 1, now none at 10 weeks unless I have a day that I need extra protein. I could also have sugar-free jello, sugar-free popsicles, broth, sugar-free hot chocolate, broth from chicken noodle soup with noodles strained out, decaf coffee, decaf tea.
