Anyone over 55 having the Gastric Sleeve Surgery? I'm over and I'm scheduled for Feb. 12th.

I'll be 54 in a couple weeks ,I. Was sleeved 6 months ago...I'm doing great !

I am 54 band to sleeve jan 29 13. So far so good

BettyK....hope everything went ok today in surgery. Catch up with us when you feel up to it!!

I am 64 and was sleeved on 12/26. I have lost a total of 48 lb, 31 lb since the surgery. I am losing slowly but am hoping to be released for the gym when I see my surgeon this week. I hope to do the indoor walking track and swimnastics. I am feeling great and had no complications, nausea, etc. after the surgery.

So glad to hear that there are so many of you that are over 50 that have been sleeved and doing well. I wish you all great success & I hope I can get some great tips from you all. In fact am thinking of starting my liquid diet today myself. I am waiting for insurance approval....seems like forever ! Lol!!! Not sure if my doctor will put me on one but see all the great weight loss for some of you on it thought I might as well try. I feel in limbo and that I should be doing something. What are you allowed on a liquid diet? Seems pretty self explanatory but can you have dairy? Broth? Juice? Can someone clarify for me please

I turned 55 Dec. 2012 and had surgery done that same month. I have had no complications.

So happy for you! How are you doing so far?

Hi BettyK, I am awaiting insurance approval. Feel in limbo want to do something but nothing I can do at this point really, keep me updated. Good Luck!

I am on my 5th day of preop diet. Mine consiste of 4-5 of the Carnation Breakfast Essentials Sugar Free. You can have crystal lite, or anything that would be sugar free and caffeine free (like those things you add to water). I can have 1 cup of sugar free jello and 1-2 sugar free popsicles. I just wish I could have broth. But, my dietician says there is too much sodium in them before surgery  I would feel so much better if I could. Good luck! I am also waiting on insurance approval. It was submitted to insurance Friday. The insurance coordinator emailed me this morning saying that it had been received and that it had been sent to the nurse for review. She will call back again tomorrow. Hope I'm not doing this preop diet only to get denied.

This preop diet is brutal! I've been so hungry and cheated yesterday! I feel so bad, but I was starving! Had a small bowl of cereal. I can eat once a day and have all raw veggies I want. How many radishes or romaine lettuce can one eat?

Hello,

I am scheduled for 3/13/13. I am scared (especially with all the 13's involved) but was more concerned about how much, if any, pain anyone may have experienced right after the procedure.

Thanks

Thanks everyone! I'll be 65 in March. I just want to be healthy and get off my meds. I like to look at the positive side of things and I get all that from you all! Thanks again. We must start an over 55 group! Sounds great!

I

I'm 61. Scheduled in March! I am looking forward to getting healthy! Let's do keep this thread going!

My pain wasn't bad, more like discomfort. I had a morphine pump but only used it to sleep. 13 is my favorite lucky #, born on the 13th and it has always been a favorable number. I had no complications and 10 months later over 100# down, and feeling great.
