Calcium chews-what's your favorite

Recommended Posts

I need to start Calcium (500) and was wondering which ones are popular? Which do you like and where do you get them?

I second the Kirkland sugar free chews. They taste a lot like a tootsie roll.

My favorite chew has been the Bariatric Advantage Calcium chew. I eat 6 a day, but do split them up as to have 2 per major meal time. Be careful not to take them with Iron because calcium and iron, when taken together, cancel out the benefits of each. The Kirkland chews are yummy, but they are also made of calcium carbonate rather than calcium citrate. Calcium carbonate is not absorbed as well and most doctors recommend taking calcium citrate. This is a shame because calcium carbonates from costco (Kirkland) taste really good and are far less expensive considering the amount of chews required by WLS patients. I order my chews from a supplier on Amazon and this is really convenient as it comes right to my door. I believe I purchase a new order every week or 1.5 week. It adds up, but is a small price to pay considering the many benefits of being healthy.

OMG... You are soooo right! Darn...this is the second time I have known what to buy and got caught up in all the choices and ended up with the wrong thing in my hand when all was said and done! The other time was Protein powder... Grabbed one, ran home home opened it and ended up with an unreturnable big tub of protein that was not isolate. The give away was that it did not mix correctly! New rule ... Double check every item before checking out! It does not pay to rush! Ugh...so now I run off to order the correct chewable!

I feel for you. Trust me, I have made the same mistakes. :)

Thank you for the information. I didn't know that I was supposed to be looking for a particular kind of Calcium chew (beyond one that tastes good). Very helpful!

I like the Bariac Advantace calcium citrate "chewy bites". The raspberry and caramel are my favorites. I liked the lemon best before surgery but now there's something vaguely off-putting about them so I haven't been eating those.

Another BA caremel fan here. They are the best and sometimes I sneak an citrate caramel in the day when I want the taste of caramel. I also have tried strawberry and chocolate, but do not like them as much.

My doctor wanted me to find/take calcium citrate. I do NOT like the chalky ones, but found choc chews from Bariatric Advantage on line. They are like little Tootsie Rolls. I take four per day, 2 each time. They are 250 mg. Free shipping if you have it set up to auto ship monthly or every two months, whatever. It's a great deal.

I wish I could buy bigger bags of the BA chews eating 6 a day. I run out often.

I like the Bariatric Advantage lemon chews and am using them now. When I got my sampler box from them there was a SUPER YUMMY Calcium chew in there called "creamy bites"..It was chocolate, and tasted just like a truffle!! I looked those up and they were kinda pricey so I stuck with the cheaper ones by BA.< /p>

Here's a link if you'd like to check them out...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
