Maybe that is something we should come up with for the people who don't get them. I also suspect I should get a med-alert Bracelet explaining my new condition

Something more to think about.

I'm getting a medic alert braclet : no NG tube. Bariatric sleeve 3/20/2013 my surgeons name and number

If people want the March sleevers list continued' date=' someone is going to have to take it over for me, at least temporarily. I was sleeved on Friday, and don't feel like sitting at the computer, and updating the list on my iPad is next to impossible. You would just have to go back and find my last list I posted on the 7th, and copy it, and add anyone who has posted a date after that. Thanks in advance, and sorry for not keeping up.[/quote']

You have done a great job!! It's your turn to heal!!! How you feeling?

Thanks! I feel better every day. The first day was pretty bad, the second day a little less, etc. I think the worst pain was the gas pain in the left shoulder, that has finally subsided. At this point in time, sipping liquids is my full time job. Even that is easier than it was yesterday.

Great to hear how everyone is doing.

I am starting my pre op diet tomorrow and am so nervous about being able to comply. I usually sabotage every diet I've started.

Positive thinking though! I've emptied all the junk out of the fridge and cupboards. And I am starting to get excited as it means op day is closer.

I seem to be feeling more assured that I won't die on the operating table but I am more cautious about the leaks/bleeds that can occur for a few weeks afterwards.

Mostly though I am so excited about saying goodbye to my painful feet, ankles and legs!!!

I'm officially sleeved! I was here at 6:30am after an hour and 15 minute drive. It was worth it though because I was first. No waiting on delays from others! I lost 15 pounds on the pre-op diet too! That was exciting.

Surgery went quickly. The doc said my liver looked great. No complications in surgery and no hiatal hernia to repair. So far I've been up walking twice and been able to get down 12 oz of Water. I was fairly nauseous right after surgery but they gave me something and and after a few doses it was resolved.

I'm on some sort of pain killers the Percocet family but I don't recall what it is. Not having too much pain though. Just really tired due to lack of sleep last night. I also have a rough and scratchy voice. Overall doing great!

Thanks to all who have posted their stories on here. It made me less nervous seeing how many people have made it through without any complications. I'm just hoping today is a sign of more positive things to come as I progress through my path.

Good luck to all the other March sleevers!

I was told Protein shakes about 3-5 days after surgery.. BUT.. I suddenly cant keep them down..they are too sweet so I went to GNC for the Isopure clear protein drinks..its a little better..1 bottle is 160 cal 40g protein and you also get 20 oz fluid.. hope this helps ..I was sleeved 3-6..so we are just 1 day off :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
