Has anyone used or heard of Bypass restaurant cards from your DR ?

Evidently you can get a card to take to restaurants and buffets where you either get a discounted charge for a smaller portion or are able to buy children's meals at children's prices??

My nutritionist gave it to me at my follow up when I was allowed to eat normal food. I don't use it though, I just order a side, or eat off my husbands plate. Or I order the smallest meal they have and take home leftovers. My nut said if you take leftovers home throw them away by the 3rd day....don't want to get food poisoning.

My NUT gave me one at my last follow up appointment. I think it says something about te cardholder having had WLS and suggests they be allowed to order off the child's menu or a reduced portion. Not sure which restaurants around me will accept it. We'll see I guess.

I also received one after my surgery, haven't used it yet though.

Mine is a business card size card from my surgeon's office explaining that I am on a restricted diet and asks the restaurant to please consider allowing me to order from the child's menu or smaller portion menu. It is still up to the restaurant if they honor it. In my experience so far, no restaurant has told me no.

I think it is awesome. I spend a lot of time in Vegas and $40.00 for a buffet is too much if I could pay child price it would be great. Also Cracker barrel said they honor it. I'm excited!

You can print the card form this web site and have your surgeon sign it. I have only used it 2 times, once at Perkins Restaurant, they did not let me order from the kids menu but did allow me to order from the Silver menu which was perfect, one egg fruit and meat. The other time I used it was at Golden Coral, and they charged me $6.75 for my dinner. It is not a guarantee that the establishment will accept it but definitely worth a try!

I also got one of these, but more importantly on the other side it states to emergency personell that I have had WLS and only have 1/3 the size of a stomach for hospital purposes and medicines. I think it is also crucial to make sure that your family knows to pass on this information on your behalf if ever you are injured and can't speak for yourself.

I don't have one but, fyi, cracker barrell and logan's are two restaurants that I know of that let anyone order off childs menu. I know this because thats how my skinny minny mother has eaten for years and she prefers those 2 restaurants for that reason.

I have two. My surgeon gave me one and the hospital. I'm not sure if I will use it. Friends who have had the surgery either share with the spouse or have leftovers for a few days.

My surgeon gave me one
