  1. I had this problem too. It took me a while to realize that it was from my PPD. I backed off to a smaller dose and it went away. My doc said she had never heard of this before but I tried two more times with the higher dose and it caused the exact problem again both times so I am confident that's what it was.
  2. This is part of the reaction I have to anesthesia with every surgery I have had. Not sure if that's what is going on with you but it happens to me every time. The nervous energy phase is followed by the weepy for no reason phase for me. Then it all magically goes away. Hang in there!
  3. I am almost 20 weeks out I think (early for math) and have lost about 2.3 per week on average for a total of 46 pounds since day of surgery. I lost about 10 on the pre surgery liver diet. I was 208 on day of surgery with a BMI of 37. I'm 162 today. I've been pretty terrible about getting on my water all along. Was never a big drinker before so even getting in 40 ounces feels like a ton to me. I'm sure that has impacted my loss. I do okay with protein most days, but probably take in more carbs than I realize through snacking. This week I am trying to be diligent about water, protein and tracking. I had gotten away from tracking. Hoping that will get me back on track and losing again so I can lose this last 25 pounds.
  4. This weekend I ran my first mud run. The 5k part was doable before surgery but there's no way I could have done all the obstacles. But I totally did it on Saturday. Scaling 10 foot walls? With this body-no problem! Yay!!
  5. That's awesome!! Congrats! Yesterday I bought my first size 10 skirt in over 20 years. Such a great feeling.
  6. I was sleeved on 12/3. 223 at first surgical consult 208 on day of surgery 168 this morning I always feel like a slow loser and I guess I am but when I see it there in black and white, I'll take it. 40 pounds in a little more than 3 months feels pretty good. And down 55 overall feels great! Congrats to all of you. We got this!!!
  7. Remember this morning when I was complaining about not being able to sleep? Turns out that the Sweet Tea Mio I have been adding to my water is loaded with caffeine. No wonder I can't sleep. I had looked it up online before I used it and saw that it had no caffeine. I can't remember what site I saw that on but it was clearly wrong. Duh!!! Wonder what else all that caffeine has been doing to me. Lol
  8. I hope this isn't a completely ridiculous question, but what is a pandus? I googled it but got a bunch of links to Chinese restaurants. Lol
  9. Why can't I sleep anymore? I was never a super great sleeper but since the surgery, I wake up every night several times per night for a while each time. And even when I don't wake up bunches during the night, I wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning and am done for the night, can't get back to sleep. What is up with this, are others having this problem? Is there a medical explanation? It seems counter intuitive since I am now off caffeine and sweets and other food and drink that used to cause restless sleep. Ugh. Frustrated. Still wouldn't change a thing. Love my sleeve!!
  10. I had gotten down to 172 almost two weeks ago. I was so excited that I was nearing the 160s. But then early last week it bounced back up to 177. At first I thought it was Water weight but its been almost two weeks and it hasn't come back done. I am getting in plenty of Protein and 60+ oz of Fluid (have never gotten in much more than this and have always been able to lose). I am exercising 5 out of 7 days. I'm just not sure what I am doing wrong. When it first bounced up, I decided to go back to basics (protein shakes instead of food) but that doesn't seem to be helping. Yesterday I had one Premier Protein shake, one Oh Yeah bar (15 grams), one GNC Total Lean shake, one turkey burger patty with 1/2 teaspoon each of mayo, ketchup and mustard and a piece of low fat cheese on it. That's it. I walked 4 miles at brisk pace. That's a typical day for me. Any thoughts? I'm super discouraged. Surgery date 12/3 at 208 Current weight 176
  11. It was great. I had both of my children there also. Always had great experiences there. And love Dr. Bruce.
  12. That's who did my surgery. It's been a GREAT experience. Good luck!!!
  13. Good luck! It will go great and you will be well on your way to a new life before you know it! Hugs!
  14. Highest weight 10/12 - 223 Day of surgery on 12/3 - 208 Today - 176
  15. My surgery was December 3 so I think I am 9 or 10 weeks out today. I got off to a good start but it slowed down at 2 weeks and just never really has taken off. Trying not to get discouraged. Sigh
  16. Does anyone else use these? They are one of the only kinds of shakes I can tolerate. I am perpetually stalled though and started to wonder whether the shakes are an issue. I am staying between 600-800 calories per day, less than 50 carbs per day, exercising 4-5x per week. And I've only lost five pounds in the last 5 weeks. It's discouraging. So I am trying to reevaluate. Thoughts?
  17. Dr Jon Bruce at Bariatric Specialists of NC. I haven't seen any other posters from NC on here. If there are any...hello!
  18. My username is ashleywi. I would love for everyone to add me.
  19. I have struggled with this since surgery. I was told to use Benefiber but its not available in my area (manufacturer recall). I gather others have been able to find it where they live? Since I couldn't find that I have been doing Miralax (one half cap full each day). But, I was told that's not a good long term solution since your bowels can get lazy. I don't think I'm there yet because its still..ahem...an effort to go. I'm 8 weeks post op on Monday.
  20. I did that program a few years ago. It got me ready for a few 5ks and then I did my first half marathon in the fall of 2010. It was a great program. Good luck!!
  21. Good call. Got these today (caramel) and they are really tasty!! Thank you.
