I am 35. I have been happily divorced for 7 years. I have an amazing 10 year old son. I wasn't always fat. Through Jr. High I was the skinniest kid in my class. I was normal through college, then I started packing on weight. I work in a high stress field (social work) but I honestly don't know if that was the issue or not.
I guess the point is that now I have high blood pressure, difficulty getting around, pain in my knees ,sleep apnea, etc. I've tried many forms of dieting but had trouble sticking with them.

I had my surgery on 4/22/13. I'm writing this 3 days pre-op. And so far so good. I'm motivated to eat right, and get active.

My family is not very supportive of this surgery. Many have told me that they love me the way I am. I love me too, but they do not understand how hard it is to manage in this large body. The majority of people in my family are all below a size 8. I put on a good front and try to focus on how active I am, maybe I did too well at that. That's part of my reasoning for joining this site.

So...I'm currently 250 pounds. I was 172 the day after my son was born. I would like to be at least that. I'd really like to gain enough to be able to go horseback riding this summer.
