Help I do not know what to do. Had upper gi. Doc said there was no problem was maybe a little tight but nothing that was a problem. As for acid I asked can we increase the dose of pevacid or try a different medication.... he said no that won't make any difference and I can double up on the prevacid for awhile if I want. But wouldn't change the script. Said to do full liquids for a few days and try to work with it. I then asked when I should follow up about this and he said 2 months WTF....left the office bawling. Help please

Well isn't he a ray of sunshine -__-

Has he been sleeved? There are a great number of us sleevers who had to increase our acid reducer and it helped!!! Please don't let him make you feel like this.

I'm glad I had the sleeve but I wouldn't want to redo the first 6 months. Try and hold on to the fact that this is temporary. You are healing and your restriction is at the tightest it will ever be...it takes a lot of adjusting, a lot of pampering our stomaches...its hard to grasp how little we take in at first and how slowly we must proceed but it is temporary. Please try not to think this is how you will feel forever because this is just temporary while your stomach heals and you recover from this major surgery.

Acid reducers can be bought over the counter so buy those and double up the dose.

I'm so sorry your Dr was like that but I am glad your upper gi came back okay.

I have a meeting tonight but I will check back with you later tonight.

Sorry if this is hard to read...lots of distractions and I'm on my phone typing.

Thanks. I went and talked to a pharmacist at Walgreens about over the counter acid meds. She was way more helpful than the doc. Got some Lansoprazole ( the same as prevacid i think) 15mg. She said to take it 30 min before I eat in addition to my prescribed daily dose. So I'll try that as well as a few days of full liquids. And hopefully I can get this under control

So frustrated with my doctor made me feel completely dismissed. I'm glad the upper gi was fine but I feel like this appointment was a complete waste of time and money. I feel like I'm on my own.

Oh and I asked him since I'm 9 weeks out should I see the nutritionist, he said no since I can't eat anyway. Really. Thank God for VST.

Stats are good I think. I was 262 at my highest this summer, 256 before pre-op diet, 246 day of surgery and today 214.6. Honestly I feel like I should have lost more by now but I won't complain to much.

I am at 3 mos post op and the acid is just STARTING to get a little more tolerable. I am taking 150mg of zantac twice a day. My PA had me try omeprazole in the morning 30 mins before I eat but that did nothing...It was horrible so I know how you are feeling...trust that it does get a little better,,,not sure if it will ever go away though. but try the zantac that seems to be the only thing that can even touch my reflux.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
