About stalls. I lost 16 lbs after surgery on 12/29 (started 228) and then stalled for over a week. Finally lost 1 more lb. on Monday. I was confused until I remembered that I saw a bariatric endocrinologist last year when we were trying to get my lap band working (turned out it was broken, but it wasn't visible with imaging). He tested my metabolism and informed me that long story short, I would have to stick to 1000 cal a day or less to lose 1/2 to 1 lb per week. I knew I couldn't do that with my (broken) lap band so I pursued revision.

My metabolism is 88% of expected. This is partly because of my lap band--with my weight loss I lost a lot of muscle mass, despite working out and getting enough Protein. I then had a baby--lost more. My point is, what you might think is a stall may be normal for your metabolism and calorie intake. I had this surgery because I knew I could not maintain a low enough calorie intake without it.

Hope this helps someone.

I have my set at 800 but I never eat that much

I did a custom goal setup: 800 calories, 50% Protein = 100g, 20% carbs = 40g, and rest as fat. I selom make 800c either but I like seeing the news each day that I am under my alloment.

I also like knowing how I did on protein and carbs, even during the day. If I see carbs at 30% after lunch, I know I need a lower carb dinner.< /p>

If you just take the defaults for calories and don't customize the goals by nutrient, it will tell you far more carbs and far less protein than you should be eating.

Thanks for he info on the shakes you tried the samples and they were good you say not thick like the whey shakes?

Trutein is thicker than a normal whey shake. I like it with 12-16oz of liquid. But to me that gets me more liquid, yay. The others are less thick. The whey isolates (like allmax isoflex) come out the thinnest with the least volume and the Protein is absorbed quickest.

THANK YOU!!! I was thinking the same thing... I must be doing something wrong!!

If I may suggest to really make sure you get in a gallon of Water in a day I make it my place now to do it because as soon as i did the weight just started flying off I KNOW THIS IS HARD but I felt like something was wrong with me too i also went from 5 meals a day to 4 meals a day I eat 3 meals and a snack. My meal is something like this Breakfast: Associates sugar free apple oatmeal 3.5 ounces made with land o'lakes butter silk almond milk unsweetened and a equal sugar. Lunch: Salmon and spinach total together Half and half 3.5-4 ounces snack Light and fit Greek yogurt (Vanilla,Pineapple or peach) and my dinner is the same as my lunch or ground turkey with 2% cheddar cheese and the pounds are shedding right off! I got stuck too and made changes you have to find what works for you. If you dont mind me saying so.. I also never eat past the point of "When you begin to feel full" And no I do not drink any Protein Shakes at all I hate them!!! lol If you want to add Protein and cant stand the shakes try the plain one you can put in any food to add it to your diet.. Good luck *Change is good*

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
