Overwhelmed and Frustrated

Recommended Posts

I'm a little over three Weeks out and i'm still having a hard time eating. It feels like the food is getting stuck in my throat and it's about to come back up. I also feel a lot of acid and bubbles in my stomach when my food finally goes down.

I'm getting discouraged and overwhelmed, i'm starting to regret my decision to get sleeved. I just want to feel normal, eat normal, live a normal life. I know I won't regret this once I start seeing results and I feel healthier but i'm having a hard time staying positive until then.

Does this lump in my throat get any easier? Has anyone else had this feeling and difficulty swallowing?

How long did it take for you to start feeling normal without difficulty eating?

I have to force myself to eat sometime because I just don't want to. It's nice to not be hungry but it sucks because I hate forcing myself.

I can drink liquids easily though :) I find myself drinking like 2 oz in one chug and its nice. Almost normal! Lol

How's your Water and food going? What are you eating?

I was sleeved 11/26

I am in my 6th week and I am still careful to chew really well and only swallow small amounts at a time. At 3 weeks I was mainly eating Soup and yoghurt Nand used a teaspoon with about 1 min between each mouthful. It is getting easier but I still have trouble with acid at times.

I felt the same way -

To be honest I still have these days 3 months out. Just tonight I ate too quickly and felt that pressure in my chest. I am much better dealing with it now than I was when I was at your stage. In fact I remember many times crying from frustration early on - saying the exact same thing - "I just want to be able to be normal and eat normal food!"

I am not much help but I promise it does get better.

I'm doing okay with Water, unless I gulp by accident when i'm really thirsty. I'm still struggling with food and I think I've realized it's because i'm not chewing enough and my bites are too big. I'm just so impatient, I want to feel normal again already.

I know what you mean. A few days ago I had baked salmon and Beans for lunch. Salmon is my FAVORITE! I had 3 bites and was full. I had it again for dinner. And again as a snack.< /p>

Salmon ended up flushed down the toilet. I couldn't handle just 3 bites. I tried 4 bites and felt so stuffed. So out my entire meal was tossed in the toilet and flushed.

:( I'm looking forward to sashimi lol. My NUT thought I was crazy, but I love sashimi and ceviche!

It'll get better. I'm kind of sad at times that I will never be able to binge again. But the. I get happy because food doesn't control me as it did before. As I type this I am sitting with a pizza lunchables to my right next to my hand as my room mate will be eating it. And I feel... Nothing. No cravings. No wanting to have a bite. It feels pretty good :)

My doctor gave me prilosec (to fight acid) when I left the hospital. He gave me a one month supply. It's a one a day pill. Never needed it before, but I've already talked to my primary care physician....If I need it longer than one month, she will write me a script.

In some ways it may be your body saying you have had enough food, which is the point of the surgery. But if you find that you are not getting enough Protein (at the stage you are at), you may need something to help you with the acid.

I am 3 weeks out and I have been getting the food coming up in my throat after I eat. I started omneprazole I had at the house and called the dr. He is orderring the kind he wants me to take. I had hoped this would not happen to me but maybe it will be a short lived thing. I also started eating pickle chips. Mainly i suck on them and then eat the inside of it. They tasted so good. Wonder if this is bad?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
