Hi.... Wondering if i can hear some "leakage" information... Like: what can cause it, have you or know of anyone who had it, can it happen once you are home even if you checked out ok at the hospital?

Thanks... Just want all the info I can get from everyone....

I was just going to post about this. I am pre-op so I don't have any input. I am wondering, for those who have had a leak, was it discovered in the hospital? Did you have a leak test during surgery, or right after, or not at all? I would think there are leaks discovered right away due to surgeon error and those that develop later due to unknown causes, such as trauma to the area. I hope OP doesn't mind me piggybacking on the topic.

I read that staple slippage from swelling can cause leakage and generally 10 days out chances of leakage minimize.

There is a forum topic specifically for complications. There you can hear from VSGers who have had leaks and other post-op complications

What would the forum be under as I typed in "complications" but it didn't come up. New to the sight so thanks in advance!

Try typing in "leak" :)

there is a grey box in the right hand side of the search box...if you click on it you have the option of searching just this thread or all the forums..make sure it is changed to "forums" :)

Yes you ca pass the leak test at the hospital and a week or 2 later get one. What cause it seems a mystery. Lifting something heavy, the dr you choose, your post op diet... Who knows... Symptoms are fever, shoulder or back pain, vomit maybe, etc. choose your dr wisely, ask him how many leaks he has had, and follow his/her instructions .

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
