Help...headache. Surgery Tomorrow!

Recommended Posts

Hi anyone who can help!!

I have to report in first thing in the morning for my new sleeve.

I'm in pain! I woke up this morning & head is pounding. I have always taken Motrin on the rare occasions i had a headache in the past. I started getting a headache on Friday & called & left e-mail for my coordinator re: headaches & taking Motrin. But no return call.

I threw caution to the wind & had tylenol... Which hasn't helped. I am hydrated. Does anyone know if I can take Motrin? I don't want to have any complications. But I can't get comfortable enough to even pack!!

I really don't see why you shouldn't be able to take motrin but try talking a nice relaxing bath also, make sure you are drinking and eating before you can't.. I think you are either hungry, anxious or nerves and just know that it is going to be alright... good luck on your new journey

Water, water, water...I see you noted being hydrated, but you can wash headaches out. Worth a try. massage your head, or have someone do it for you. Relaxing atmosphere only. You dont have to know how to do the surgery....they do. They are the ones with the pressue, take it off of you. You'll use what you've learned after, and have a lot of coaching and support. It's really a good time for you. Take care and best wishes tomorrow. Be sure to eat Protein today, no carbs/sugar - will feed the headache.

They told us no motrin because it can increase bleeding, Tylenol only!

If you have any biofreeze (or icyhot), or lavender oil you can rub it on your temples and along the base of your hairline. It works wonders.

My paperwork says absolutely no Ibruprophen, Naproxen, or aspirin either immediately before surgery or after.

no motrin or ibuprofen or aspirin! it is a blood thinner! try to get ahold of someone in the office or one of the nurses, not something I would chance the day before surgery.

Do not take Motrin and nothing OTC pain medications except Tylenol it causes bleeding . You should be stoping taking those Meds two weeks before your surgery. That s what I was told . Try to drink Decaf tea or wrap a scarf a little thought your head that will reduce the headache. This will pass. Think positive talk. I will be praying for you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
