Leaving for Mexicali tomorrow

Recommended Posts

I can't believe in 2 days I will be having my surgery. I've heard a couple people mention getting extra acid pills and pain relievers at the pharmacy across the street. How much would I need, how much did it cost. Trying to see how much I might spend, meals for hubby, meds, tips for driver.

They do give you a box of the supradol (dissolving )pain reliever and a box of pantazol (anti-acid grains). I bought an extra box of both at the pharmacy across the street but never even used more than one or two of the supradol they gave me. I think I used one after walking what seemed like a zillion miles from the check-in to my gate. And maybe another one after I drove myself home. I went alone and didn't tell anyone so I had to drive myself home.

I was really glad I got the extra box of pantazol. Taking pills was really intimidating to me even a month after surgery. I think it was about $20.

Ps no one told me to have extra bandages for the drain site. By the end of the first day of travel home it was goopy and I had to stop at Walmart to pick up bandages & sticky tape. It was fine after a couple of days. Just FYI. :)

Thank you for that info. Yesterday went well with preop testing. There is another couple here at the same time which is such a blessing. Calmed my husbands nerves to have someone here to talk to about man concerns. :) had a nice steak dinner last night, now lying in bed in hotel morning of surgery. The hospital and doctors seem very nice. I know I shouldn't be worried but I'm guessing its normal before any surgery to feel a bit over whelmed, waiting to actually get everything going. I appreciate any prayers you could say. Thank you! I'm missing my kiddos and look forward to returning home to them! I'll keep you posted as toggle the days events go. Right now it's 5:45a and I'm going to get showered and packed for out 7:00 pick up. :)

I had my surgery with Dr A on 8/20. The day after surgery is the worst, but that is over fast enough. I went to the pharmacy on the same corner as the hospital and purchased 3 boxes of the propozol granules. They were $19 per box. I still have the pain pills that they gave me before I left the hospital, I used one before I went through TSA and another when I got on my connecting flight in Houston.

I recently went back to Mexicali for my 3 month check up, and I bought more Propozol granules (anong other RX's) while I was there.

For now..... Just blow blow blow on that spirometer and walk every chance you get.

Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
