Not losing any weight since surgery

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on 6/05/2012 and have not lost ANY weight. I lost 40 lbs before I was sleeved and that is it. I have read a lot about Water intake but I haven't actually tried increasing my intake. I don't track my food but I also don't over eat. I listen to my body very well. I don't think I consume more than 800 calories a day if I actually decided to add them up.

Does anyone have any advice?

I would meet with your surgeon and nutritionist to review what you are eating and for a check up as well to see what might be causing this.

Get a MyFitnessPal account and track everything. One of the baffling aspects of addiction is not being honest with yourself. You are not seeing the trees through the forest. Track everything and I'm sure you will find your answer.

Assuming you are not bedridden, it is simply not possible to eat 800 calories per day and not lose weight over 6 months. I don't care if you have a thyroid condition or what. It is just not possible.

Be honest about your portion sizes and track everything. If anything, overestimate your portions. Chances are, the 2 ounces of nuts are probably more like 4 ounces ... things like that.

You really should track your food on my fitness pal. You'd be surprised on how quickly the calories add up. And I also agree with previous posters about chating with your surgeon and nut. Let us know what's going on. :)

I don't track my intake but I'm wondering if you're getting in your Protein? I noticed that when I get in all my protein grams my cravings are nonexistent. Protein is important because you burn a lot of calories when your body tries to process it. I think you should go back to the simple rules of protein first, 60+g of protein, drink lots of Water, limit carbs, and exercise. I follow those simple rules and have been losing steadily. I drink 2 Protein Shakes a day (66g of protein). I still eat carbs but I keep them under 100g a day and I've learned that it doesn't have to be anything drastic like 40g or less, unless you can handle it.

I can't imagine this would even be possible. Even if you lost slowly, one would expect some loss over six months. Unless you are drinking and eating thousands of calories, you should be losing something each month.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
