1 year banded, 7lb weight loss ?

Recommended Posts

I was reading on another site that this woman was banded a year ago and only lost 7lb. How is this possible? Did the band fail, or was it her inability to use the band correctly ?

Unfortunately, sometimes people have underlying health issues that the band can't fix. Thyroid issues, metabolism, adrenaline problems, the list can go on and on.

I am one of the unlucky ones as well. 4 mo's and 15 lbs is all i can say - no weight loss for the last month....

Despite eating right, exercising and being at proper fill amount....

Yasmina, I know who you're talking about... I saw that post too.

There are lots of reasons... who knows. You should go in and read all her posts, and try to make sense of how she does things, etc... (for example, I read something about her getting a defill because she was going to Greece) Was this because she wanted to eat while she was there? I don't know. She also only has 50lbs to lose, so... that could have to do with it as well. I'm sure there's lots of reasons.

I think there are definately people out there who eat around the band. I see some of the posts and it is amazing. Unfortunately, the things we all need to stay away from are the same things that go down easily. The band is definately not a cure for head hunger...

Like BeacheeGirl said, some people can do everything exactly right, and not lose. In those cases, I would push hard to find out what the underlying issue is.

I think it's more common that people don't realize their band is a tool, and requires some maintenance to work properly. Like getting fills until they have good restriction. And we still have to make good food choices and exercise. It's not (unfortunately) a magic bullet.

I know one bandster who has been banded over 2 years, and lost about 10 pounds. I also know this person hasn't had their fills, drinks sugary drinks and eats all the wrong stuff. And doesn't exercise at all.

Ya, unfortunately I crack me up too but I'm not used to having an audience that doesn't heckle me! ('cept Cloe and Mandi....now THEY are hecklers!).

I have been banded for a year now and have only lost 15 pounds despite following all the rules! It is very very frustrating! I take a ton of medication and have thyroid issues so I try not to be too hard on myself. One thing that did kill me is the soft food syndrome. My band got out of whack and I turned to high calorie soft foods to get by and it really did me in! I still have high hopes of losing my 100 pounds!

I think it has been stated, but for results like that, there is probably an uderlying health problem or they ate "around" the band.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
