  1. Hi everyone. My husband is a chef and he is considering getting the lapband (note: I have the band, I got it in Apr 06 and I'm very pleased with the results so far). He is wondering if anyone out there who is banded is in a similar circumstance (ie. works full-time in a kitchen & is therefore surrounded by food all day long!!). If so, we would be curious to hear from you re. any special challenges/obstacles you may have faced. Was it (the curbing your eating and food choices etc) more difficult for you? Do you think working in a kitchen environment made the whole process harder or more challening to go through or did it not make a difference? His inquiring mind would like to get your perspectives as he goes through the decision making process of "to band or not to band". Thanks all; looking forward to hearing some feedback!!!
  2. Yup....the public (especially the Canuck public) want to know!!! *shoves mike in Argon's mug (face!)* So, Mandi....tell us....we want to know, how is NB life compared to SK life? Details please! - job info - living arrangement info - people info - shopping info - town info (where the heck are ya livin' in NB anyways?) - boyfriend info (most important!) Any regrets? Happy? Content? Satisfied? DETAILS DETAILS!!!! Sadly yes, we are a nosy bunch. (to be completely honest though, Cloe and CanadaSunshine put me up to this!). I'm merely the one who chose the short stick!!! :scared: :)

    Hey JUDE048!

Get it...hey Jude!!!! *humming the Beatles song*. I thought I would start ya a new thread to give you some encouragement! YOU can do this! Don't worry...it WILL happen...it just takes longer to get going for some people. I was stuck for awhile too...and like Argon, I'm losing a pound here and a pound there (over several weeks!). So, don't lose hope. Just keep on doing what you're supposed to and it WILL pay off. Patience my friend!
  7. Hey all... I posted this in another thread but didn't get a response so thought I'd try it in the "general" thread where I know there is more traffic!! <HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Hi everyone. 9. :update: Just a quick note to pass on that us Yodas are doin' great and are alive and well!! Life is busy and we've been taking a hiatus of sorts from the site....too many other things goin' on. I periodically come and do a quick read ...glad to see u r all doin' so well! Keep it up! My band is a good friend and it is also quickly becoming a good friend to Mr Yoda (his band, not mine! LOL). He is doing very well indeed since his second fill (he is now at 5ccs....he has wisely chosen to reach his optimum level slowly - me thinks he learned from my journey!). He is down 30 lbs and we're both really noticing it (in more ways than one!! *snicker*) :rolleyes:whoo: All the best, I wish you!

    Random questions

well, NO tanning salon is "safe" band or no band. (except for spray on tan) People KNOW this yet they continue to do it. Personally, I never have and never will.

    tlbc fills

If you want clarity, call the clinic Mon morning. But yeah, I've always eaten a "good" meal before my fill.....it is the after that is the tricky part...(fluids for the rest of the day). Don't forget that your fill won't be at 1:30. The seminar starts at 1:30....it is supposed to be two hours long (?...so they say!) and THEN they give you the fills. So you likely won't get your fill until after 3:00 (from my understanding). We'll see you there!! Looking forward to meeting you.

    tlbc fills

TLBC has always told me to make sure I have a good meal before the fill. So, if your fill is in the afternoon...make sure you have a good lunch. If it is in the morning, a good breakfast. Mr Yoda and I are going to a rest. in TO for lunch tomorrow prior to going to TLBC.

    Any Pets?

That is kewl that you enjoyed your visit to Canada...and yes, there is a lot more to offer!! psssst: but take it from someone who has lived from coast to coast to coast of Canada (& all points inbetween)....you have been to the most beautiful province and two of the most beautiful places within that province! :kiss

This is why it is sooooo very important to ensure you have aftercare all researched and lined up before getting surgery. This is a big thing for out of Canada patients (ie. Mexico) but obviously for in Canada patients, as well. IMHO, though it is nice if the clinics help out in finding a fill person, I feel the onus is on the individual and it is their responsibility.

canadian who have gone to mexico

Hmmmmm...I find that viewpoint interesting because TLBC staff (incl the doc) do call and talk to their patients. And they have their own support network on their website AND they have video and teleconferencing for support.
  20. :canada: :canada: :canada: :canada: :canada: :canada: Alrighty....inquiring minds (hopefully more than just mine!) want to know where my fellow Canucks from the Canadian Corner derive their "user names" from. Spill the Beans and fill us in!!!! I'll start. I'm a huge Star Wars fan (duh!) and one of my favourite characters is Yoda. One of my friends would always call me "Yoda" for the sage (?) wisdom I would offer her (only when she asked of course!!!). I went a wee bit nuts (with excitement) in that scene wherein we all saw Yoda fight for the first time....bouncing around like a ping pong ball and swinging his light sabre in the way only Yoda can!! I was so impressed by that scene, I started clapping and cheering in the movie theatre (unheard of for me!)....it caught on and then everyone started doing it! It was awesome. Anyways, when I signed onto here for the first time, I really didn't know what username to use and then Yoda popped into my head as I looked up at the Yoda Pez Dispenser I have near my comp. C'est ca, mes amies!!!! Votre turn!!!!

    Searching for...

:canada::canada::canada:you know, lizrbit...I must say that we Canucks here on the CANADIAN thread are a really close bunch that support one another.....regardless of individual threads....the whole CANADIAN forum is like that...it's called "looking at the big picture" and "caring". But, being an American (I don't know if you ARE American but I see you live in the US) perhaps you don't quite understand that. But, alas, I'm sure we all appreciate you coming to the CANADIAN thread and stirring the pot....mind you, I expect nothing less from our southern neighbours. Of course all are welcome to go visit any threads...in whatever forum...just strikes me as kinda funny it is always the "non-Canadians" who like to cause trouble on the Canadian threads. Enjoy and you just keep on havin' your fun since this seems so crucial to you! As for me...I will take the high road and will not comment to you again, regardless of the snide comeback I'm sure you will feel compelled to post here on the CANADIAN thread yet once again. :canada::canada::canada::canada::canada::canada::canada::canada::canada:
