  1. Good luck Miranda....you'll do GREAT!!!! (ummmmm, if you are referring to me, thanks for the kinds words but I'm a wee confused as I don't do journal entries....so not sure who you are talking about! Mr Yoda has done a few entries though...but he was only banded last month). May the Band be With You!
  2. Isopure is hard to find in Canada...unless you live in TO! LOL. Seriously, it is here, but difficult to find (& VERY expensive when you do). Isopure is NOT required...it is merely listed as suggestion among many so that you have an idea what they are talking about. Propel and gatorade are also clear fluids....are easily available, are cheaper, are also suggested and do the same thing. Don't waste your energy (or money) on the isopure and go another route.....before you know it your week of clear fluids will be up anyways and then you can do your boost/ensure or whatever.
  3. That is sooooooooooooooooooooo AWESOME Angel Bear!!!! You must be so thrilled.....and proud of yourself!! Keep it up. We need to get together soon!
  4. Isopure isn't "required" for the post-op...it is merely one of the many suggestions for the clear Fluid stage....any clear fluid will do...(ie. gatorade, propel etc).
  5. Just to clarify though.....it isn't about the "loss" it is about the "healing".
  6. :bump::bump::bump::canada::canada: LOTS of new people here since January....c'mon fellow Canucks...enlighten the rest of us on the origin of the monikers y'all are usin'!!
  7. :update: I know some of you oldtimers have been wondering how Cloe is. This is to let you know that she is alive & well & doin' great!!! She is very busy with life...not only with their lambing but also with her other job. And if that and her family weren't enough, she is busily working at opening her own business (online and at her home). That being said though, she sound really really happy, energetic, enthused and motivated! Just thought some of you might like to know why she isn't around and provide you with the update! I'm really happy for her.
  8. LOL...Mandi...I dunno why it wasn't there!!! I guess it decided to "go away on it's own on that one"...You're the computer whiz, not me!! although it is one big ol' lie anyways right now...*sigh*
  9. I was a good lil' bandster and did not start solids early. I truly followed the instructions to a "T". I wanted to start of on the right foot.
  10. :canada::canada::canada: June Goals: 1. Continue working out like a madwoman 2. Lose 2 lbs (yup, at this point, I will be happy with 2 lbs...>YEEESH) 3. Support Mr Yoda on his band journey 4. Survive a four night visit from my parents in mid-June:omg:
  11. aboslutely, 100%, completely normal.
  12. I've known this for a few months now....just didn't want to get into a big "thing" about it so never mentioned it. Why? Because the bottom line is that he has not been associated with TLBC for quite some time now. That is what the important thing is. I hope this thread doesn't turn ugly, because who are we to judge on allegations. Plus, as I said...it is a moot point since he is not with TLBC and it was never the Dr. Joffe clinic....it was "TLBC".
  13. No, they won't do it under fluro unless there is a problem with your fill and they "need" to do it under fluro. If that happens, it isn't done at TLBC...you have to go to the Scarborough Grace Hospital and have it done there. Dr Yau does it there for you though (by appt. obviously).
  14. Yup, no question....he went to the TLBC as well. He is doing very well (check out Yoda Yammerin's thread). I'm doing alright...have stalled for several weeks...but I know it is all part of the process. Mr Yoda says because I now have so much muscle etc.....that I may be "gaining muscle"...blah blah blah!!! Tomorrow is my monthly picture taking and measurement day though....so even though I haven't lost in several weeks, I'm hoping to be down some more inches. I'm TRYING not to go by just the scale!
  15. That is awesome Buffie! Mr Yoda (who got banded last month) is diabetic but thankfully not on insulin...just oral meds. He hasn't had to take any of his gluconorm since being banded and we are keeping an eye and after awhile (ie. once he is on solid food for awhile and is at or near goal weight) we hope he can come off his other diabetes related meds....time will tell! (That is one of the goals for him). Small fills and patience and allowing it to take time is the best way to do it...and look how great it has worked for you! I'm "tighter" in the morning as well but I still attempt to have SOMETHING....(one of Dr Yau's 3 cardinal rules!). This morning tightness is pretty common from what I can tell. But if you are so tight that you can't eat Breakfast at all...then....a defill is in order....as that is not the point of the band. As for the "why" of the morning tightness....there are a few theories that have all been covered on other threads....personally I don't care why!! LOL...I just care about the consequences! Re. the "1 cup thingy"....I generally can't eat 1 cup of anything in the am....like you...I do a yogurt or fruit or something. But, generally speaking....tho I don't actually "measure" anymore, I do eyeball to make sure I'm not eating more than 1 cup at any given meal. I don't find it that difficult to adhere to. It's okay if you eat less too....as long as you are getting in your needed Protein. So happy to hear you are doing well; I missed my fave vampire slayer!!! :rolleyes
  16. Hey Marcar!!! Good luck! As I look at the clock, you are only an 2.5 hrs away from banding!!! You're almost there!!!! (yeah, yeah, I know you won't see this until afterwards!!! LOL)...so, in that case....how ya feelin'? Hope all is well and take care!!!!!! :rolleyes
  17. well done and welcome to bandland!!! Codeine, eh?  Demerol is sooooooo much better!!!
  18. Welcome to the banded side Kwalla!!!! You're on your way!! Yay! :clap2:
  19. BUFFIE BUFFIE BUFFIE!!!!! Soooooo good to hear from you! Thanks for posting! You, my friend are Kickin' some SERIOUS *SS !!!!! Awesome job.....! :clap2:
  20. Doddie, I'm sorry but I have to disagree. The medical system(s) in Canada are 100% provincial....they are NOT federal. Yes, some of the $$ is transferred from Fed to Prov gov't but it is DEFINITELY a provincial system and run provincially. If you say this out of AB person was referred to AB....then I suppose that is possible under some special circumstance/program or something though I find it odd. And, yes, some provinces will refer persons to the US for surgery (any type) if they can't support/provide it. But that is a different thing from referring them to another Province....(only because those provinces have their own "people" to look after). I just want to clear up any misconceptions anyone may have about our (Canada's) health care system.....Provincial!!! (though, of course I agree it "should" be federal).
  21. I HIGHLY doubt that an individual living "out of province" (ie. AB in this case) qualifies for AB provincial health insurance....no, and out of province resident cannot get anything like the band paid for....holy smokes!!! Pers within their OWN province can't get it. There is a miscommunication somewhere...so don't get your hopes up.
  22. You'll do GREAT! Just think....the waiting for the surgery is the hard part and now it is almost over! I forget....did you bring someone with you? (I hope so!). If so, make sure that if you haven't already got your pain prescription (& gotten it filled) that your "buddy" gets the script and then gets it filled while you are undergoing surgery. Then, it will be all ready for you when you need it back at the hotel and you won't have to "wait" for it to get filled etc etc. Good luck....!
  23. I think that is pretty subjective. It all depends on the individual...one person may find Dr. Mumford's clinic more personable whereas another person may find quite the opposite and think TLBC is much more personal. By the way...anyone can also meet with Dr Yau at TLBC....all you have to do is ask! Miranda...I think you are merely experiencing the normal "last minute worries" etc..completely normal; most everyone went through this stage. So, rest assured you are going through the normal progression of emotions. You will be in great hands at TLBC...you obviously did your research and made the decision based on your own set of personal criteria...so have some faith in your decision making abilities!
  24. Have you called them?
  25. Yeah...it is TLBC....not the "Dr J clinic". Good luck Doddie...I'm sure it will go well, as you know, Dr Y is awesome!
