Dr. Umbach - Las Vegas

Recommended Posts

I am scheduled to have my sleeve done with Dr. Umbach and I am curious what experiences others on this forum have had with him and his office Blossom Bariatrics?

Good luck with surgery I will be thinking about and I can't wait to hear from you!

He did mine on 07/08/2011, 17 months ago. He did a great job. No issues and I am actually below his AND my goal weight. Doing great and can eat anything. I would definitely recommend him and his team.

I will say, though, he is not forthcoming with information. He will answer any question you have thoroughly, but he is not going to sit you down and answer any question you do not ask.

If either of you want to ask me any questions about him or the process, let me know.

$10,400 when I had it done.

Right now they are quoting 10,400 if you pay in cash. 11,000 if you pay credit card or cashiers check and 12,000 if you finance it.

Does he still do it as outpatient surgery? Even though I live in Vegas where he is I'm still glad I went to Mexicali and got my three nights in a hospital for $8700.

It was optional. I think for another grand you could have it not be outpatient and stay a night or two. I prefer not to be in a hospital if at all possible. There are sick people in hospitals and I wasn't sick. Didn't want to be, either. I have a friends husband still dealing with issues 3 years after acquiring a staff infection from a hospital stay. (not WLS surgery, btw) I was happy that I could go back to the Golden Nugget and chill out on my own.

I had mine done on the 7th. Dr Umbach. Outpatient, cash. 10,400. Had surgery at 1:30, on the way back to the motel room by 5:30. I was fortunate, no problems, my husband got up with me every 2 hours to walk. The pain pump worked great. I spent Friday in the room, Saturday evening went out for a few hours, by Saturday I was ready to check out Vegas. (I'm from Cali and had never been before)went to Hoover dam, the convention center and the shark reef. Fab. Monday morning saw the doc again and headed home. He did a great job. I'm following his directions and I trust all will be fine.

Would recommend him, 110%!!!

Hmmm

I don't see my reply.

The staff at blossom were great. The medical staff at the hospital were wonderful.

Everybody was super. Not one regret or bad taste here.

I had the surgery at the hospital outpatient. Make sure you have a good support person. That will make all the difference. They will tell you to be up walking every 2 hours. The first night it's hard. My wonderful husband set an alarm and got me up. We stayed at the Marriott residence. Off the strip. It was good. No smoke, not a million people.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
