Nov Sleevers... What's Your Status?

Recommended Posts

Ok everyone... I was sleeved on Nov 12th, and weighed 240.

My first week I lost 10 pds and my second another 10... Which was Awesome!!!

But since then "0" WTFudge is going on! :-(

This is my sample menu:

B: 1 EGG OR 5OZ Protein Shake

L: 4 SHRIMP OR 2OZ tuna

D: 2OZ SALMON OR 1/4 CRAB meat

SNACK: cheese STICK OR 5OZ Protein shake

I'm tracking my calories and I am under 300 - 350 max.

What is wrong???

Anyone else struggling???

Is this normal???

You've hit the dreaded week 3 stall. Hang in there, it'll pass!!! I was sleeved Nov of last year and now I look back and wonder why i got so freaked out about stalls. They are part of the process & there will be MANY more....focus on the positive things and try to enjoy the journey!!!!

:D

I had my surgery 11/6 and yes you are not alone. I am still trying to find the right formula, are you getting in all of your fluids? I think that's my problem, or at least I hope thats my issue

THANKS...

And Yes... I'm probably not getting enough :( It's hard because I just don't crave fluids that much... I think that I drink 1-2 16 oz bottles per day if I'm lucky :/

This no Water with meals... Or 30 mins before / 30 mins after really makes life a little complicated! :-P

You probably need more calories. I'm 4 weeks out and am eating between 700 and 800 calories.

I was sleeved on 11/20. And I have lost 32 pounds so far. I walk, walk, walk every day. I'm lucky to live very close to the beach. Walking on the sand is much more forgiving to my joints. I think what helps me is I get all my Protein in, all fluids and all Vitamins. I do still have a shake in the morning because it jump starts my protein intake for the day. And it seems to make me tolerate my vitamins so much better. But I do need to stop weighing myself everyday.

Hello all!

I was sleeved Nov 21 I'm 13 days out and according to my scale I've only lost 10lbs. Crossing fingers that when I go to ny appt Thursday its much more. I think my scale is not working or I'm doing something wrong. I drink 64oz of Water and get over 60 grams of Protein in. Am I a slow loser or what. Blah!

Hi, I was sleeved on Nov. 14, and will be week 3 tomorrow. I have stalled too. My nutritionist said to me this morning it is normal. Our bodies and hormones are going wacky right now. I need to drink more fluids, but have had a hard time due to nausea, but it is getting better. NOT going to the bathroom in 4 days doesn't help either, but I started Mirilax so it should help as well. (sorry too much Info. lol ) My nurtritionist gave me a whole new list of foods I can try now too, which makes me so happy, I was starting to dread the mushy stuff daily. We will all have our ups and downs, and stalls, but just keep on plugging away and doing everything right and it will come off. :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
