Nov Sleevers... What's Your Status?

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the replies... I am following the binder that I was given to me at Kaiser... I am 24 days post-op. I average under 350 calories per day... With a minimum of 25-30 grams of Protein. Today I ate the following:

B: 5oz Protein shake

L: 2oz tuna salad

D: 5 Med. Shrimp

Snack: 5 oz Protein Shake

Plus I drank 1-16oz Water bottle... I know that's bad but I don't crave fluids :/

Loss 20 the first 2 weeks... But no weightloss in these last 2 weeks :(

I month post-op appt will be on Dec 12th... I hope to get some answers then!!!???

Congrats Jessielynn on your loss so far! Are you working out yet? If so what is your workout like? How many calories are you at now?

Yes I am working out, I am kickboxing / circuit training 4 days a week then tring to keep up with 3 kids and working the rest of the time! Lol

I feel like I have a sleeve of steel I can eat about anything just tiny portions, I have about 400 calories a day and about 60 g of protien. I start everyday off with a premiere protien! I'm on my fitness pal if ya wanna friend me;)

Wow, that's a lot of working out. Currently I am able to do 30 min of treadmill and 20 min on the bike. I was advised to do only those two till 2 months. And I can't imagine working yet. I had two big days out of the house and failed my fluids on both days. I ended up with severe headache, lightheadedness, and blurred vision. Lol, not ready for work yet. I have 3 kids too, keeping up with them is enough! I also have been lucky to have a steel sleeve. Nausea but only vomited once. And nothing affects it, I just need to eat slower and less, I think... It just seems after every meal, I feel so full. I am up to 550 calories a day.

Sleeved Nov 12. Having a hard time with the recovery but I'm looking forward and have been losing weight and gaining some energy. I start back to work Monday and am anxious about it because for the last four weeks my days are consumed by Protein, Water, protein, Vitamins, calcium chews, a bite of food, etc.. I'm used to being so busy at work I'm worried I will slip on my routine. (sigh). Here is the progress report:

Starting weight 231

Current weight 206

(not sure how much of that was lost on the pre 3 day liquid diet)

I'm currently stalling like others, but I'm not worried. I'm just going to try to be positive. I can't turn back time and just need to adjust.

I was sleeved on the 19th and have lost 26lbs since!! My doctor doesn't push Protein Shakes or require a certain amout of Protein to take in. His recommendations at this stage are lentil Soups, mashed potatoes, refried Beans, greek yogurt, pea soups, ect.....I tried a shredded hard boiled egg but it didn't go over so well. I hoping to try again next week. I tried a couple bites of chicken today and chewed the heck out of it and did fine. Dealing with the head hunger more! It's hard to think your full after a couple bites of something simple. I'm looking forward to trying chicken salad this week to get some more protein in. Love reading everyones progress & menus!!!!

I'm in a stall but it is to be expected. Certain foods do not sit well with me. It's trial and error for me. I'm just trying new things very slowly and I have a backup in case the new food doesn't work. Ad the blander the better I am finding. I cannot eat too much but I can drink more Protein which is nothing new to many of us.

I also returned to work on Thursday. I worked 3 12-hour shifts in a row, today is my first day off. I'm exhausted. But I slept well last night. Got 9 hours in. So I'm ready to walk the beach, get some errands done and get back on the losing train.

Good luck everyone and remember stalls are just a part of the process.

We are the same, I was sleeved 11/6 and I am officially today down 25lbs since surgery. I had a stall in week 3 and I know there will be other stalls but I know in the end this was the best decision for me. I haven't started exercising yet but I will begin this Monday I think it's time good luck!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
