I'm Not Going To Be That Person!

I kept telling myself that I wasn't going to be that person that freaks out if i had a weight loss stall. But here I am.. Only 5 days out and freaking out about only losing 1 pound!!!!!!!!!!

In my peop diet class they said that there is a small percentage of people ( 1% or something like that) that WLS doesn't work for them! What if I'm that 1%?? I mean.. 5 days ago I had this surgery and I've only lose 1 lb?!? I know I'm being stupid.. Sorry, but I'm just a little scared of it not working for me. :/

Calm down lol! You are not being stupid. We all have these concerns. It took me 2 weeks after surgery to see an actual loss because of all the fluids and gas from the surgery itself. It may take awhile to start seeing results, but you will see them! Just do as your surgeon advises and all should be well. I am 4 months out and just came off a 4 week stall. I thought for sure that was it, but dropped 3 lbs in the last 2 days. Good luck to you!

OMG! Ok, YES! I haven't even had surgery yet and I've been thinking about the people WLS doesn't work for. I just keep thinking positively and trying not to stress myself out before the surgery even happens. I don't think you you are being stupid at all. I know this is going to turn around for you! :)

The 1% you doctor was talking about are people that don't follow the rules and begin grazing on unhealthy foods all the time, drink high calorie liquids and basically make the wrong food choices. The sleeve is a tool that we have been given to aid us in the weight loss journey and not a magical cure so that we can just eat what we like. Follow your doctors/nut's advice and you will be fine. Don't get me wrong I think prob everyone at some point will have a wee bit of something they know they shouldn't but as long as you don't abuse your sleeve then it will look after you. Xxx

In my peop diet class they said that there is a small percentage of people - 1% or something like that - that WLS doesn't work for them!

i can't imagine/understand why a professional would tell you such a thing , especially since you are in a "fragile" state, worrying about everything being so early out of WLS

i agree with Lorraine - that people who fail - aren't watching what they eat, calories, grazing all that stuff that we know we should not do (WLS or not)

I heard this once - on a MASH episode!!!!!

People don't plan to fail - they fail to plan

saw the nurse the other week, she told me how well i was doing -

but in a few more sentences - she mentioned how many people go back to their old ways in a couple of years and gain back their weight!!!!

I looked at her and said "why would you say that to me??? i've had this WLS, am doing great, and now you tell me that many people gain their weight back???" i don't need to hear that!!!

she could tell i was "slightly" upset with her comment, kindof apologized - end of story - i just couldn't believe she said that to me

sure, i know there are people that this happens too - start eating to much - ignoring all they learned - but hopefully they are far and few between

this isn't a regular diet, where we've lost a lot of weight, stayed "clean" for a bit then said the heck with it!!!

we went through MAJOR surgery - stomachs cut up - OMG - we were pretty desperate to do such a thing!!!- but it was necessary for our health and well being

after all that, and yes some people might regain - keep doing what you know you must - and you will keep this weight off

btw you are NOT stupid - you might have said a stupid thing  but there is a difference

i think i came off a little power rant - oooooooooops

don't worry now, there will be plenty of time for that later

good luck connie
