Not Sure Right Place To Post...fatigue

Recommended Posts

Hi I had surgery on 11/20... I feel so tired that it's frustrating! I walk around every time I go the bathroom. When will I feel better?? Also I still have to take pain meds around the clock!!

Hang in there! What you are going through is perfectly normal. The first week to ten days are the most challenging. It will get better as your body heals more. Be patient to yourself and kind to yourself. Tea really helped warm me on the inside. All my best to you.

I am so happy you posted this! I was just going to post something myself. I can't get over the constant tired feeling, when everyone says, "I have so much energy!" I am going "what is wrong with me?"

I'm 11days out and I'm trying like heck to drink all the Protein and Water, but can't quite get either down in a day.

Any suggestions? I'm tired constantly!

Thank you.

I felt like crap for about 2 months post-op, no energy or stamina at all. After that it really started to ramp up.

You're probably in ketosis right now ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketosis ) and while in the worst of it you will no feel well at all.

I WOULD be concerned about the reliance on pain meds, to need them so far post-op is a bit of a concern. Please bring th issue up with your doc at your next appointment or see him immediately if the pain persists or gets worse, especially if the incisions get red or more swollen or a fever persists.

When I had gall bladder surgery I was in them 2 months bcuz of 1 darn incision that just wouldn't stop hurting!! I'm wondering if the pain has to do with the 2 Penrose drains I have bcuz those are the incisions that hurt. Plus my belly was constantly given heparin shots and it's pretty bruised too. My follow up appt is wed bcuz I was sent home on O2 therapy.

I usually can't get all my 64oz of fluids daily and I'd I'm struggling to get all the Protein in too. I doubled my scoop on my Protein shake this am plus with fat free milk it gives me about 58 grams...I drank 4oz of it already but I'm struggling with the the last 2oz bcuz it's thick. Gotta keep working on it till I find something that works!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
