If anyone is planning on going to Cancun next year please let me know. Most of the posts are to surgeons in Tijuana but I hardly ever see Cancun.

I am hoping to go in January or February

I am in Florida so would rather fly closer than all the way to San Diego.< /p>

Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving

I'm going January 11 with the same doctor you are. :) I'm more likely to go a couple of days early to enjoy it then for surgery.

I thought you were headed in September? changed to December? Maybe I read that wrong on one of your posts we were both commenting on.

You can do it....set your mind to it and make it happen for yourself. You deserve it! :)

Hi, I was originally scheduled in September but changed my mind last minute (regret that, LOL) and wanted to go in December but my work load is too much right now and I would definitely have to get right back to work if I go in December as my work is very strenuous so I can't go in December but will be going in January or Feb for sure!!

abetterme, that is great you are going to Dr. Perez also. I am hoping I can schedule it for Jan 11th also. Are you in Florida also?

Nope, I'm in Texas. I prefer Cancun to the border towns. But, if you go January 11th, we will definitely run in to each other at the hospital and hotel.

If you are concerned about being there alone or just not knowing anyone, let me know. We can make arrangements to be near one another to put your mind at ease. :)

Surgery was on Saturday and I Just wanted to check in and tell you how I was doing. Everything went perfectly, I could not be happier with my choice. Dr.Perez and his team was absolutely wonderful and I can not image why anyone would not pick Cancun over a boarder town.

I will give you guys more details when I get back. Right now I am sitting under a cabana, drinking Gatorade , and watching the waves.

Would you guys mind sharing the prices you've been quoted in Cancun and for which dr? I've been all over the place trying to pick locations and drs.. But I think I'm going to pursue Cancun!

Hi tab. Depending On which coordinator you choose, the price is 4800-5500.

I did not want to go to a border town just because I am making a mini-vacation before hand. You can get TJ prices around the same and a little higher, but just remember the Cancun location will cost more in airfare. Its more of a personal preference and which doctor you are more comfortable with.

I chose to work with Ready 4 a Change (Alma), but there is also a company called a lighter me. I did research on all the doctors from both companies (they have several of the same doctors) and researched the prices, but Ready 4 a Change offered me 1000 less than a lighter me (for whatever reason).

They both have websites underneath those company names so definitely do your research and go with your gut and what information you get from both. I was in contact with both of them, phone conversations, email, texts, all of it...and in the end, I went with who I felt the most comfortable with.

Good luck on your journey and ENJOY THE PROCESS!

I got my flight through AirTran which was significantly cheaper than any of the others that go to Cancun.

This is what I was quoted:

The cost for the VSG with the surgical team of dr. sergio verboonen is:

$5,500usd at the Victoria Surgery Center

$6,500usd at the Hospiten Hospital

$7,500usd at the Galenia Hospital.

But I haven't found a lot of testimonials about Dr verboonen on here.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
